I'm enjoying the series so far. Flaws and all.
Bad sadly I got bit by the DVR cut off gremlin this past week and missed part of the episode, but I don't know how much. Cut off when they were fighting the pilot down in the basement and had just got to the point where they had him down after hitting him with the fire extinguisher. What happened after that, and how much longer did it run?
And personally I think they're focusing on the families (both divorce and cancer wife) because they end up involved with The Strain before the end of the season. Hard to have them get involved, and have it mean something, if there isn't any background.

Glad to see I'm not the only one bored out of my mind. I may have to ditch this one and wait for the Blu Ray as waiting week to week makes it seem slower than it already is.

Anybody see the end of this episode? See post #30. Trying to figure out if it would be worth hunting down the episode and watching again to see the end.

Surprised at all the disappointment...I love this show so far. One of the few TV shows I actively look forward to every week. I don't find it boring at all - but different strokes, I guess. I found several Walking Dead episodes last season much more tedious than these three. I really love the atmosphere in the episodes, the visuals are outstanding.

After enjoying shows like Terriers and The Bridge, I don't mind the slow build as long as there's a great pay off. Seems like they're starting to ramp everything up and all this characters arc with Ephraim's divorce and his kid will play a part of something bigger in the future. Tho I'm waiting for Frank Underwood to come in and clean shit up.

I got hit with the same DVR problem I HATE when that happens. And it did seem like it ended at an awful point. Fortunately, after I finished watching, I saw FX was airing a replay in the wee hours, so I programmed the DVR again (with 5 minutes overrun). And there were just a couple of seconds that I missed. Oddly enough, for the replay the show ended at 59 minutes.

Yeah, they kill him and that's the end of the ep.

Yes, his head is literally smashed in. He's pretty dead . My DVR has at least so far actually been smart enough to carry over the extra few minutes, I've been lucky. They rerun the episodes a few times though, so if you wanted, you try to catch one of those.

Given that I've been anticipating this show for a year, I can easily say this is the most disappointing show I've seen in a long time. I'll stick with it, but the there's not much going for it at this point. I really hope it picks up some steam.

For a series about the vampire apocalypse ready to hit New York City, this is the most boring possible way to show it. This was another dreadfully boring episode with practically all filler content.
I want to really like this show, I am usually a sucker for almost anything with vampires in it. These writers are apparently unfamiliar with the idea that every episode needs to have some dramatic, punchy moments to keep viewer interest. The last two episodes could have been shortened to ten minutes combined and not impacted the overall story one bit. We got virtually no plot development in them except more background characterization.

I don't mind the slow burn ... But they are either burning too quick or too slow intermittently. It is the individual story lines that are not keeping an even pace with each other. I would be perfectly OK with being 3 episodes in without any "definitive proof" of this revolving around vampires at this point IF all of the story lines were moving at that pace. The problem is there is not enough mystery for the viewer because the answers are being provided before the questions are being asked by the characters.
Edited to add: I keep thinking of the original V miniseries. It opened up with tons of character background/development and didn't even reveal a spaceship for quite some time. (Or am I remembering that wrong?)
