I thought the second episode was a lot more interesting than the first, so I'm looking forward to this next one quite a bit. The show is still beyond ridiculous, but that's fine by me. I can't say I was expecting much more than what we are getting.

As someone who's obsessively slathering Rogaine on my head and is terrified of my simple inevitable receding hairline which will soon be gone, I inherently find the body horror genre really creepy. So this stuff....gah!

I kind of like the actor playing Fet, more than most of the rest of the cast, sadly.

Wondered how they'd handle the stuff about the genetalia atrophying from the book. Spooky effect, I guess it constitutes nudity in a weird way. The horror movie set pieces have a nicely cinematic quality, it's unfortunate they're surrounded by such a substandard human storyline. High production values, bad script. Too common, sadly.

If iTunes does not put up the third audiobook soon, I am going to hit someone...

Did...did his junk fall off into the toilet? Then he flushed it, right?

rotfl

hanshotfirst1138 07-27-14 10:41 PM

Yes, it's pretty hard to miss that that's exactly what happened, even if cable TV had to be a bit discrete about it. Though I find it more disturbing than amusing.

I just really don't give a shit about this whole divorce shit in an apocalyptic threat level. I mean, it's like dealing with Will Smith's over due library books during ID4 or if the fucking CD-Rom is working in the cars at Jurassic Park.

How does one go from pissing to having your junk fall off to being smooth and genderless in under 2 minutes?

I literally fast forward through every scene involving Eph his wife and son. I'm also hoping there is a point to the rat exterminator storyline because so far its seems rather pointless. The old man with the sword and the rich old guy are the characters I'm the most interested in. Oddly they seem to be getting the least amount of story time.

hanshotfirst1138 07-28-14 07:26 AM

The exterminator becomes one of the main characters and joins the resistance team against the vampires.

The virus has been working on him since he got off the plane.

This is an inherent problem in the book, but the pacing works differently in the show, it's really dragging its feet as the characters race to discover something we figured out from the advertisements.

Three episodes in and I'm completely bored with this show.

I get that, but you can't have your pipes working one second and then it's as if they never existed. Maybe I'm too "walking dead" in that I figure there's some flesh degradation before it just heals over. I guess it would have been better if you never heard him take a leak and that he just has the urge and when he goes there his junk just drops off.

Thomas is the most interesting character so far... tho he reminds me of the Gentleman from Buffy's Hush episode.

So, what's the difference between the four "survivors" of the plane and the dead passengers that reanimated? They're all vamps now right or is there a difference between them? Could a book reader enlighten me in spoilers?

I would think the survivors actually spread those little wormy things?

A better episode than last weeks snoozefest. That being said there were still some problems with this episode. As mentioned in previous posts, the stuff with Ephraim's divorce and Zack are just boring and FF worthy. Another problem I had was the scenes of the survivors (the guy with glasses and the shock rocker) they just seem out of place and disrupt the flow of the episode.

Fet was actually one of my favorite characters from the book and I liked him a lot more in this episode. I'm gonna give this a few more episodes since I think they will finally get to the main conflict in the novel soon and that's when the fun begins.

Nothing, except the dead are all featuring to their families to infect them, and the survivors are going to roam out among the populace. It's basically to show the biological effect that the metamorphosis has on the living host as opposed to an apparently dead one.

Spoiler:
Eventually, when Setrakian damages The Master's body, he takes Bolivar's

Any vampire which bites does, that's how the disease is transmitted.

Never read the books, so it just seemed to me that the wormy things needed a living host as opposed to the already dead. And I guess since we never see the little girl's father, I didn't think about it.

You summed up my feelings. Not a good sign that when watching this show I now keep my finger on the remote's 30-second skip button not just during commercial breaks. I've started paring down the story from the editing couch.

I also skipped right past the wife and kid garbage this ep.

hanshotfirst1138 07-28-14 11:19 PM

It does to some extend figure into where the characters eventually go in the next two books. Whether it's enough to justify how badly it's handled here, however, I don't know.

I thought this show would show more of the master vampire beast. Geez, talk about dragging things along. Tooooo many subplots with the survivors.

And nice job keeping raw and uncovered meat in the fridge near all the other food.

I think the show has the look and the gore right.

It is lacking on making me care about the characters or an overall tone. I am still enjoying it though.

I love this show - I find even the so called 'boring' scenes fairly interesting at this point, just getting a sense of all the characters. I haven't read the books but the paperbacks are cheap so I just bought the whole trilogy for $20 and plan on reading them asap.

 at the Rocker's junk falling off and it looking smooth as silk afterwards.

Some creepy scenes, especially that last one.

Just finished it. Great episode. Yeah, the junk falling off was great I had wondered how they would "handle" that "part."

Also, the opening of the episode where dude is putting on his prosthetic "human" self was really well done. This episode was also written by the book's author Chuck Hogan.
