Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

RIP Mike

Funny to see this show actually kill off it's lead character.

I'm not certain this will come back. It's ratings weren't good.

Yeah he's fucking dead. What Sid did to him you don't come back from. If this comes back, I wonder if they will cast someone to replace Mike or make Paul the lead even though he is a corrupt agent.

Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

I was pissed that Mike didn't just shoot Sid. If he then took his gun away, there would have been nothing linking him to the scene

Paige has got to be the worst written character in the history of cop shows !

Overall a bit of a hot mess, but a somewhat entertaining one

Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

Jumping ship? I think they consciously decided to kill off the blandest character on the series. While Mike was nominally the lead character, I don't think anyone was watching for his arc or story. I don't see how they could bring Paige back, no one will ever forgive her in Graceland for that decision. That arc seemed purposely designed to write her off the show.

It looked to me like the producers were paring the cast down in hopes of a retooled, cheaper show around Briggs next season.

Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

USA had a really bad summer. When your highest rated scripted show is a serialized law drama like Suits with 2.5M viewers, you had a crappy summer. They can't cancel everything though. I can see them keeping Graceland, but with a drastically reduced budget and cast. I mean this show couldn't even get 1.5M viewers weekly. One of the criticisms I heard was this show became too dark and plot heavy and that was a huge turnoff for USA's core audience. Out of the new USA dramas, I would keep Rush over Satisfaction. Rush IMO has more potential to grow and fits more into what USA's branding is.

Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

I still thought Graceland was the best show I regularly watched on USA, though I am not in USA's intended procedural-loving demo. They took some of the storylines in too many drastic directions this season. The entire Paige sub-plot almost derailed the season by itself. I have no idea how a writer or producer pitched that arc, let's take our only female eye candy and make her a paranoid, vindictive bitch.

Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

This show seems stuck between a popcorn action show and trying to be serious. I don't think the writing and characters are good enough to be a serious show, even though that is where they seem to want to take it.. I almost wonder if it would work better many as a more procedural show with an overall arc that is a lesser part of things. I usually like shows the other way around, but I don't think the quality is good enough to pull it off.

I liked the show's setup with Briggs and it worked well for Season 1, but I almost think they should have wrapped that up. With the various agencies all in the same house they probably had plenty of directions they could have taken the show in in terms of story arcs built around various casework.

Renewed for a 13 episode 3rd season

With the lead character presumably dead, this is going to be a pretty different show next season.

Re: Graceland Season 2 Discussion

I think most thought Mike was the dullest character on the show, so I don't think he'll be too missed. Good news on the this renewal, though I still can't believe Rush didn't get renewed.
