That ending was less "final" than Day 8. They must do another season. There's no way they aren't going to.

That was awesome. I was so high from the Bauer rampage that I didn't notice the silent clock. Imma be pissed if he's dead.

It works as a finale since Bauer has nothing left to live for, save Kim. He has done and lost too much and it has caught up with him and he's dead.
It's also a great cliffhanger for another season/movie.
Either way it works.

I would have rather had a happier ending.
She may have died in the end, but I still it's still more positive than what happened Audrey in previous seasons. She wasn't a very lucky character.

Kate Warner - Still alive! At least as far we know. She even appeared in two seasons and a video game.

I'm not exactly sure what to make of that. To be honest, I'm still sort of reeling from all that happened this season. I mean, if this is all we get and we never see Jack Bauer again then what a way to go out.
That was a hard ending to watch with Jack turning himself over to the Russians. They left it open just enough for the show to continue in the future, but this felt like a pretty definitive ending. As a fan of the show since it debuted all those years ago, this was bittersweet. I always knew Jack would never get the happy ending he deserved, but it hurt to see him surrender to the Russians. I definitely choked up during the final scene, but once again Jack makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect the ones he loved. The entire time though I kept thinking "Jack is going to blow himself up once he gets on the helicopter!"
I always liked Audrey so it was hard to see her go like that, especially when they seemed more or less in the clear. Kiefer Sutherland really sold the pain I would have expected Jack to feel given their history and his love for her. The momentary breakdown followed by the rage-fueled massacre was just perfect. I loved every moment of him beating the shit out of Chang and completely demoralizing him in defeat. The decapitation was icing on the cake and I'm glad Jack got some bit of vengeance for Audrey.
The final moment with Heller talking to the Prime Minister was heartbreaking and Devane did a great job with the scene. The pain of not just losing your daughter physically, but also losing the memories of her was expressed so wonderfully in the dialogue and performance and was a highlight of the episode for me.
I'm glad Belcheck got more screen time in the finale and liked seeing him work with Jack to take down Chang. He was a great ally and if the show does ever come back I hope he's involved in some way. I also really liked the recognition that Chloe was Jack's best friend. I wasn't crazy about her portrayal this season, but I at least liked the recognition that she was being manipulated by Adrian while in a vulnerable state. I guess it's not too hard to imagine her getting to that point with the arrest and incarceration along with the fabricated loss of her family and not having Jack as the positive influence in her life.
Mark's future doesn't look too bright He deserves whatever he gets on the treason charge. You have to figure...what would've happen if he hadn't given Jack's coordinates to the Russians? Maybe Jack could have stopped Chang earlier and the Chinese ship wouldn't have been blown up and Audrey would still be alive.
I'd actually welcome a TV Movie or Mini Series with Kate as the lead. It would be great to see where she goes from here.
All in all though it was a really great season. And at the very least it can be said that the show went out on a high note. While it wasn't a happy ending, it was an ending that worked very well for me. I always expected Jack to die by the end of the show, so maybe that has something to do with it. But it worked as a true series finale with Jack getting the final silent clock as he sacrificed himself to protect his remaining loved ones. And it worked as setting the stage for a Movie or Mini Series. Can't really complain about an ending that allows for both possible interpretations.
Still, I hope we'll see Jack again one day.

Didn't we have a silent clock and gunshot at the end of one season after Jack finds Audrey as a basket case?
I was hoping for a happy ending and I was surprised they wrnt this way. Oh well, a great season.

What the Russians don't know is that John McClane is still in town.
My dream for a Season 10: Send Tony to Russia to break Jack out. How great would that be?
The reality? That's probably it for Jack Bauer. You didn't expect a HAPPY ending, did you? When has 24 ever ended happily?
Kudos to both Sutherland and Devane for some great moments this season. Tonight, in particular, watching Jack go from grief to rage without saying a word. Then, watching Heller lament that soon he won't be able to remember anything.

Well 24 has never been one for happy endings. If this is the end of the series then what a down note to end it on. At least with season 8 you could believe that Jack found a way to some excluded island somewhere. Here, you just know he'll be dead soon.
