Here's my guess on the ending:

Sookie is killed. To save her, Bill turns her. Now a fairie vampire, Sookie's blood heals hep V. New True Blood is created that cures the hep V and also makes vampires being able to daywalk. B

Did you write the series finale? Cause that actually sounds incredibly probable at this point. Good job!

Here's hoping this episode continues the improvement over the first two that episode three did.

I really enjoyed this episode.

I am relieved about it too, I did not enjoy hating on True Blood. This was great.

Love what they did with Ginger.

Yeah, that was by far the best episode of the season.

Some humor finally and I am glad they didn't drag out the prisoner story.

Having Eric back in the main plot helped A LOT. Unfortunately, given his agenda, that appears to be short-lived.

I was wondering a few weeks ago who was watching Arlene's kids. The answer appears to be no one.

"Pam told me your wrote a book about how you're not an asshole anymore. Is that true?" probably the best thing on the show in years.

When I saw the title I assumed the song they would play during the credits, but was curious if it would be Dylan's original or Nick Cave's cover.

I do have to question how many video stores were that stocked on DVD in 1996. The format was only a year old at that point.

Did they really show DVDs in the store and it was supposed to be 1996? I was managing a video store back in the 90's and we didn't get DVDs until around 97 or 98.

I just came here just to post the same thing. Pam is setting up the Laserdisc section which says "The Future of Home Entertainment" while the store is filled with DVDs and DVD for sale signs... in 1996. Sloppy.

You can see by Eric's frustration with mangled VHS tapes that he was probably eager to convert to the DVD format as soon as possible.

Doesn't Arlene have a baby also? And aren't her other two kids a lot older than they should be within the time frame of the show.

Well, I basically got my Jason/Hoyt phone call that I wished for in last week's thread. Except I forgot that Hoyt didn't have any memories of Jason or Jessica. Will we actually see Hoyt back in town or Alcide's father?

So Jessica is just vamporexic?

So I guess Eric was able to stop his body from burning by triggering an avalanche somehow. I'd still like to actually see it on screen though.

I was psyched to have Hoyt back but that was pretty still pretty bad. Not as bad as the first two episodes but not as good as episode 3. It's staying out of final season of Dexter territory...by a hair...err fang.

Still watching but I spotted a copy of Batman Forever and Colors in the 1986 flashback.

I admit I'm only paying about half attention to this season, but I'm a little confused about something.

Is there a global vampire problem? We saw a neighboring town wiped out, and someone (Jason?) said they couldn't get through to the bigger cities and they were basically on their own. So is this approaching "Walkind Dead"-like proportions, where the White House is bathed in UV light at night and larger cities have a curfew? Because if that's the case, it's weird seeing an entire yoga class without a care in the world.

if that isn't the case...why isn't it? Vampires aren't exclusive to Bon Temps, and the disease is obviously global. So is the entire world living in fear at night? And if so, why haven't vampires been completely villified worldwide and hunted down? Bill may have written a book saying he's a great guy, but he was also (very recently) a cold-blooded, day-walking murderer.

Also, if vampires ARE a global problem, it seems like something that would be easy to take care of during the day time.

I'm actually asking these questions, not being snarky. So please tell me if I missed an important detail this season or forgot something from last season.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the "DVDs for Sale" area in the same scene where Pam was putting up the LaserDisc display. How did nobody catch that?!

Anyway, despite that, I thought this was the best episode of the season as well.

"History is a bitch." was my favorite line (from Jason). I was hoping they'll kill off Arlene, but I guess you can't go killing off a main character EVERY week.

You would think it would be.

Maybe there aren't enough vampires in the world to completely bedevil the human population and the rural areas like Bon Temps are hit a lot harder than urban and suburban population centers. It also might be that the vampires are migrating to rural areas because they aren't well defended and more scattered. It would probably be easier for armies of humans to wipe out roving bands of vampires in a big city with a highly concentrated population than it would be in rural areas with small towns and lots of open territory.

But when the season started I had sort of assumed we were looking at a global catastrophe like the zombie apocalypse in Walking Dead.

Hell, I don't even remember video stores having enough DVD stock to 'sell off' used copies until 2000 or so, especially at a 'ma and pa' place like they were running.

And according to Wikipedia and other sources (since my memory is a bit hazy here), it wasn't even available for mass retail in the US until 1997:

Of course, there also were never vampires in our timeline, so maybe in that universe the existence of vampires somehow sped up the invention of the format.

I liked this ep but it took a minute to get rolling. I liked the call to the Wolf Dad. I know he issues with his Son but you can tell he did love him. I LOOOVED Pam and her, I'm so damn tired of this bitch Sookie" attitude.

I enjoyed this episode as well. I too noticed the DVD's..I was laughing as some of the titles on the self didn't come out for quite awhile (e.g., Big Trouble, Little China.) I will be optimistic that things start to pick up...
