Trey Parker and Matt Stone - basically One hit wonders

I happened to have re-watched Team America recently. I didn't think it was all that hilarious, but it was definitely entertaining and I came away even more impressed with the technical achievement of just making the film. There was no CGI used at all, all the effects and action were practical. Well executed.
I haven't seen Cannibal or Book of Mormon, but I thought Baseketball, Orgazmo, and That's My Bush were all pretty disappointing.

That's My Bush is pretty weak as satire, but it's a great parody of the standard 3-camera sitcom.

I still think South Park: The Movie vastly exceeded expectations and is one of the funniest films of this century.
I've found their non-South Park content a little more patchy and uneven in quality.

I disliked Baseketball so much when it came out that I haven't been able to bring myself to see it again. I remember thinking that people I had been telling "You have got to check out South Park" were going to see this and then assume South Park must be garbage as well. So not only did I not enjoy it, it actually sort of irritated me. Maybe I should give it another shot.

They have been wildly successful but there is a lot of hypocrisy in the fact that they are still doing South Park. When they first hit it big they often talked about how they would only do South Park for a few years and how they had no respect for those that milk one thing of years.
I guess money changes all things.

I think BASEketball is the weakest thing they've done by far. I've liked pretty much all their other works though I haven't seen The Book of Mormon (only have listened to the soundtrack). I know that some people will bitch that South Park isn't what it once was, but I still find it pretty funny even though some episodes miss the mark a bit. I actually wouldn't mind seeing them do some more work outside of South Park, maybe another feature film or something.

and with tix price THAT expensive - Trey and Matt are basking off the tix sales.
look at Boublil and Schönberg have they ever written another musical together - why should they? ' Les Misérables' has been their cash cow.
but back on topic. I hope we do see something from Trey and Matt in TV, film form in the near future.

BASEketball is great as an amateur, just-trying-our-best-to-make-a-movie movie.
It really is funny. If you have the ability to understand that it's all self-mocking and self-aware, it's really good.

I have several friends who's entire frame of reference for all life seems to come from South Park or Family Guy. I never to watch an episode, because they know them all by heart, and by the time we get the half-hour mark of being together, one of them has always referenced it.

I don't know if you all ever saw Your Studio and You, but it's of their early works, an in-house video for Universal, pretty funny:

$20 says it'll probably be a film production of The Book of Mormon (which I have tickets to see in two weeks!!!).

Book of Mormon apparently makes $19m a month across all presentations, that's crazy (about $6m a month from Broadway tickets alone)
