The only episode i truly HATED out of this season was the one within the prison when

Spoiler:
Wolf gets free

because of the ultra-repetitive hallucinations. without those, the episode would have been 20 minutes long.

Sorta I guess. Only the same way a cop show is a cop show. Both Castle and the Wire are cop shows, but really they are nothing alike.

Powers is a show where heroes are real. They all have publicists, image consultants, and do PR more then they actually fight crime. The show has heroes and villains, sure, but mostly those with powers just do shit to get on YouTube and enjoy being mini-celebrities. The show is about cops living in that world. It's not a great show, but it's a good show.

Re: Powers (Playstation Network) -- S: Sharlto Copely -- Series Thread

I've now watched most of season one. A couple of things prevent this series from greatness. The budget must be shockingly low, production values are well below anything you would see on network television and around the FX quality seen ten years ago on the Syfy channel. As someone with a passing familiarity of the Powers comic, the cast is pretty questionable. I got used to them but none of them are perfect fits for their characters. Eddie Izzard as the show's primary Big Bad didn't work at all. He's a good actor in the wrong role.

Bendis says in the Blu-ray special features that he was hands-off with this adaptation, he told the showrunner to change anything that he felt was necessary. Apparently the showrunner behind Powers once worked in comics as an editor or something and was the main person behind getting this adapted for television.

Having said all of that, I ended up enjoying it as someone that is a diehard superhero fan. It's not a procedural, the entire season is completely serialized from the beginning. The pilot is probably the worst episode since they try to show lots of heroes flying around with terrible VFX. It gets much better once you realize where the story is going around episode two or three.

The over-the-top language and graphic gore gets toned down later in the season. This is a different take on superheroes like Watchmen. It's closer to how they would likely behave if they existed in our world.

I agree, as I stated earlier in the thread, the show itself is decent enough, the production value is just plain poor.

Who Killed Retro Girl? On May 31, season 2 of POWERS, the PlayStation(R) original series from Sony Pictures Television, premieres on PlayStation(R)Network in the United States and Canada.
