I read that Bochco had an illness and had little involvement with the first half of this season other than creating the story arc for the season.

The only thing I didn't like about last night's episode was just about every scene with Molk. It's a little too obvious that he's a red herring. It doesn't make much sense for English to give him the list of possible suspects in the first place but the fact that he gave a name and then they find that person dead just reeks of a poorly constructed red herring. The strip club scene was just strange and obviously a build up to make Molk look suspicious.

Caught up with the show coming into tonight's new episode.
The friendly fire/dirty cop storyline should be interesting how it plays out. I agree the show is quite different compared to season 1. Funny thing Lt. Koto was missing for most of episode 1, the entire episode 2 and most of episode 3. They probably did that because he's a pretty big character right now on Hawaii Five-O and they started shooting the new season when he was still working on that show.

So did anyone watch the season finale? I thought it wrapped up the main storylines pretty well. I was happy to see James Cromwell return. It doesn't look like the show will come back which is disappointing but at least it didn't end on a cliffhanger.

Why do you say it won't be back?

I think this show did a great job with this season considering they couldn't use the same gimmick as season 1. Good cast, too. I hope to see a season 3. I got a Wire vibe from this season, with how it bounced from one character/story to another.
One question about the ending...

Finished the season last night after binging the last 5 episodes.
I liked it overall and it wrapped the season story arc, but it felt very low key compared to season 1's arc. Season 1 was a murder mystery, while season 2 was more about Terry and Hildy bringing down a group of corrupt within their division. They did a good job of keeping the school shooting in as a minor focus the rest of the season. I figured that arc wasn't enough to sustain for 12 episodes.
I'm also glad that they kept Terry and Hildy platonic as opposed to moving them into some kind of relationship.
I wouldn't mind this coming back next summer, but I wouldn't cry if it didn't considering the season was wrapped. They would have to start a new arc for another season.
