Well it still has some competition tonight. NBA playoffs on TNT, The Voice and Dancing with the Stars. Plus, The Bachelorette. With the live sports and live competition shows, I have a feeling that once again 24 fans who do watch those as well will be DVRing 24 and saving it for later in the week.
I hate to mention the whole lead-in factor, because I think it's bullshit, but 24 is coming off the Bones season finale tonight. It has been getting higher numbers than Bones.

Man, I felt like somebody accidentally edited in a scene from Game of Thrones. Stone cold bitch!

I enjoyed the episode. I was hoping for more riot action, but Bauer making his way through the embassy was good enough for me.
The ending reminded me of The Negotiator.

I enjoyed it. Poor Hot Sansa! How will she possibly make scale models of Winterfell in snow now that she has a stubby pinky?
Thought the standoff with the Marines was pretty intense and resolved in a pretty clever way. Really digging what they're doing with Kate, even though they're making her pretty much just Agent Renee 2.0 -- that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Good episode tonight. Some good intensity with Jack's standoff against the marines. I liked how Kate was able to piece things together and eventually became an ally to Jack. I agree she is coming across as Renee Walker 2.0, but that definitely isn't a bad thing. Yvonne was a good choice to be the leading lady this season.
I also liked how they kept some consistency with Heller and Jack's relationship & didn't forget that they had some tense feelings against each other. Last time Jack saw Heller in season 6, Heller never wanted to see him again and blamed him for what happened to Audrey.
Tonight's episode was written by Patrick Harbinson, who is a writer on Homeland and Person of Interest. He also worked on season 8. Good script by him and Adam Kane did a good job directing this one.
BTW, is anyone wondering how the time jumps are going to work? We're already 4 hours into a 24 hour day with only 8 episodes left. Next week we're at 3pm to 4pm.

Maybe they'll actually sleep. Alternatively, things requiring time (like travel) happen. Or maybe it's a trick and the whole thing will be over in 12 hours.

I think Jack travels to mainland Europe at some point. That should be an hour on a plane we can skip.

This episode had a couple of leaps of logic that bothered me, but let me preface them by saying I REALLY LIKED hour four - especially after the rather-dull hour three.
Anyway, here's what annoyed me:
- Are we really supposed to believe Parliament suddenly was so mesmerized by Heller that they shut their yaps and applauded him? Ever watch Parliament on C-SPAN? Not going to happen!
- Tanner, a presumed terrorist, is left under the guard of approximately ONE guy.
- The flight key is kept in the same room Tanner is - apparently for 'writer's convenience'.
- Heller doesn't believe a word Jack Bauer tells him, but completely trusts his weasel son-in-law. (We'll chalk this one up to early onset dementia).
- Kate discovers a ventilation duct that goes directly above the office Jack has the hostages in. A duct that it seems every other solider/officer/worker in the embassy has completely ignored/forgotten about.

The Marines actually considered using the duct to enter the room but didn't like the fact that only one person could go in at a time.

That said, this ep. was a big rebound from last week's and I still think it's awesome this show is back.

It does get pretty annoying when still, after all this time, people don't believe him.
That raid to save Heller was one of my favorite 24 moments.

I guess Dave Barry was unable to blog, but I figured he must have totally freaked out that someone SET UP A PERIMETER (one of his favorite 24 tropes), and it actually worked for once!
