Presumed Innocent. Finished in 2 nights. Very addicting and very good show. The performances and mystery were terrific. Now on to the Harrison Ford movie.

HBO's 2016 limited series The Night Of is an 8-episode crime drama revolving around the murder of a young woman on the upper west side of Manhattan. This is my second time watching it. Some excellent performances here from John Turturro and Bill Camp, along with a few familiar faces from The Wire and Boardwalk Empire. Riz Ahmed won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Nasir (Naz) Khan, a college student whose life changes dramatically over the course of a few hours. Wonderfully acted and beautifully shot. Highly recommended.

Babylon 5 - Second time watching the series. My god, does it ever pick up about half-way through Season Two, and once it does, I just powered through the series. It was just as amazing as I remembered. I probably watched Season Three in its entirety over the course of two or three days (ditto with Season Four)...It's just incredible how well-thought out the show is, and yet, it remains one of those shows that whenever I try to encourage friends to watch, they see the first episode and they're just like, "Nah, not for me." You really have to commit to this show, as even I will admit that the first season is a bit "wonky".
That said, I had never actually watched the Fifth Season, given it's history and how it wasn't even really planned because they feared cancellation so they stuffed so much stuff into the Fourth Season and essentially ended the main story arc. So, I'm only halfway through Season Five and while it's okay, I guess, it's definitely kind of a let down. Like, I get it, he got the extra season at the last minute so he kind of had to just rush it through but most of the episodes are one-offs, and the main storyline seems to be the Psi-Corps thing, which is interesting so far and I hope it gets better (I do love seeing Walter Koenig all the time, as his character is one of the best of series), but we'll see. But as far as I'm concerned, the series could've ended with Season Four and I would've been totally happy. Even subtract the final two or three episodes of Season Four, which are largely atrocious, and I'd be happy. What Stracyzinski accomplished is truly amazing. And he should be proud.
The Odyssey - Not sure if the Americans on the board have seen this or have even heard of this, but it was a super hyped show in Canada in the early '90s on CBC (the Canadian Broadcasting Channel). I managed to secure this by e-mailing the company that produced it (OMNI films) and it's pretty interesting. I'm about halfway through and it definitely brings up some memories, but I'm also torn because for some reason the entire series seems to be shot from a 45 degree angle. Like, I'm not kidding. 75% of every episode is shot with the camera askew at a 45 degree angle. It becomes super annoying. I guess it was a stylistic choice and if that's the case it was a stupid one. Like, who thought that was a good idea? I assume the series was shot by some film student who felt he was doing "art" and just said that look would be cool when in fact it just makes the entire series look stupid. But whatever, it's nice to go back in time. I watched it as a kid. And the only actors I recognize are a very, very young Ryan Reynolds and a very young Devon Sawa. It's an interesting take on Homer's "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey" starring basically a cast of (mostly) just kids...

Re: Last Show You Binged?

Hunted was a BBC/Cinemax production which ran for 8 episodes back in 2012. Full confession: I'm a sucker for a great British crime series and for Melissa George. This show checks both of these boxes for me. George plays Samantha (Sam) Hunter, an operative for a private intelligence agency named Byzantium, who may or may not have been betrayed by someone on her own team while completing a mission on behalf of one of their clients. Determined to uncover the truth, she rejoins the agency after a year in seclusion and is immediately thrust into another dangerous assignment, while attempting to seek the answers to her own questions. I love discovering hidden gems that managed to fly under the radar and this show is one of them. Wonderfully shot, with a strong supporting cast (led by Game Of Thrones alums Stephen Dillane and Patrick Malahide) this is a fantastic series. There was talk of a second season / spinoff however, after BBC pulled its support, Cinemax decided it was too expensive to pursue. A shame, really, as I very much would have liked to have seen it. Highly recommended for fans of British espionage thrillers.
