I think it's less in the books but time is so vague in the series that assuming a year for each season makes sense, and there won't be a big problem with 18 old Arya

Considering how the young actors age it makes sense to me. I heard GRRM was planning a 5 year gap in his books (I have no idea if this is true, just something I heard somewhere) so it might just equal out by the time the show catches up.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "First of His Name" -- 5/04/14

I missed the big reveal because I forgot about the connection between the Hand and the Vale.

I've started rewatching from season 1, and am on episode 4, in which the following has happened:

-Arya talks about water dancing.
-People speculate about whether the Hand died from natural causes or was poisoned.
-Littlefinger is "helping" Ned Stark put together the clues but telling him not to trust anyone.

Ned: "Lord Baelish, perhaps I was wrong to distrust you."
Littlefinger: "Distrusting me was the wisest thing you've done since you climbed off your horse."

The funny thing is that I started watching this episode the other day but forgot where I left off and just restarted it. I probably would have missed a lot of this stuff if I hadn't watched it after the current episode.

I think he was planning that at one point, then realized a lot of crazy stuff would have to happen in that time and just skipping over it didn't really make sense.

Strange we haven't seen the dragons since that first episode. They are getting huge. What are they eating now that she is staying in the city?

Yeah he definitely planned that, but when he started he realized that there needed to be so much exposition to catch people up on the last five years it did not work out at all.

As far as Littlefinger knows, as the eldest daughter with no surviving Stark sons Sansa is now the heir to Winterfell, a potential 3rd kingdom. Her marriage was never consumated so it can annulled even if Tyrion escapes the cards lined up against him.

coup?

Who cares who wins? He picks a side at the last second and looks like a loyal ally.

Then marries into one of the 7 most powerful families of Westeros, with the winner of the war (If Ned sided with Renly Littlefinger would have been on team Stark) owing him gratitude.

As he stands now

He is the lord of Harranhal and Liege Lord of the Riverlands
He's the acting Lord of the Eyrie
He's owed a massive debt of gratitude by the Lanisters
The Tyrells owe him thier position as the house of the Queen of the 7 kingdoms.
He has the daughter of the martyred Ned Stark and the sister of the betrayed King of the North in his pocket, to do what he wants with.
He spent all of Kings Landing's money but owes nothing to the Iron Bank

Who's in a better position right now? Petyr or Tywin?

One final thought...I dont think he give a shit about that Iron Chair...he loves the climb
He's a player and so far the ultimate at the game of thrones. Didn't he tell Ned the one whispering in the kings ear has the real power?

What do you think it the one misstep? (Please don't say Tyrion's girlfriend, I didn't get why so many people complained about her)

I also noticed that Daario's character is very subdued after the casting change. He still has the charm but he kicks back a bit. The only thing he mentioned was the taking of the ships? I bet if the prettyboy from last season was still part of the show the fucking camera would be all on his jock.

Why people complain? Maybe the fact that she can't act at all. (That is, not counting her porn videos.)

And that most of her scenes are played opposite a solid actor like Peter Dinklage just makes her acting abilities seem even worse.

I find her performance to be very good. I think she is far from the weakest actor on the show but I like everybody so far.

I may be one of the few people who actually likes Shae . No what I was talking about was the rape a couple of episodes back. According to the articles it was never intended to be a rape. The writers, the director, the actors, never meant it to come across that way. By making it look like rape it completely changed Jaime's perceived character arch. Apparently GRRM never wrote it as a rape either. So, in my mind, that has been HBO's only big misstep.

Ehh it is a stretch to say GRRM never wrote it as rape, honestly it was kind of rape-y.

And D&D differ on the scene, they feel it was rape (I believe).

That was my issue with the scene as well. I didn't really object because it was a rape or rape-like... It happens in that world and being a woman is not an easy thing... Instead, my issue is because it seemed to be that Jamie was at least trying to redeem himself and be less dishonorable. The Jamie we meet at the beginning of the series and the one that is on now are, to me, different people. That Jamie would not have cared about keeping his word to find Sansa and his word to their mother and, by extension, charging Brienne with finding them and giving her the sword made from the Stark sword.

Yes I was being clever...WAFO is Watch and Find Out as many authors when asked spoilery questions about their books including Martin will say "Read and Find Out" or RAFO

I didn't read it but was going by what GRRM said here: http://grrm.livejournal.com/367116.h...0284#t19030284

"though the time and place is wildly inappropriate and Cersei is fearful of discovery, she is as hungry for him as he is for her."

The director (Alex Graves) said "the sex becomes consensual by the end, because anything for [Cersei and Jaime] ultimately results in a turn-on, especially a power struggle.”

Lena Headey said, "There’s lust and desperation and you know, a need to feel something other than this searing, empty loss. And so that’s where I came from when we were filming. There was this need and it wasn’t right and yet it felt great."

I'm sorry, I just didn't get the subtlety they were going for. I can accept now that it wasn't rape and continue enjoying Jaime's redemption but was bothered by it at the time. Hence, the misstep.

If no one intended it that way, it sounds like it was a director fail.
