04/10/2014 (08:00PM - 08:30PM) (Thursday) : THE STUDY GROUP LEARNS THAT SUBWAY PLANS TO TAKE OVER THE GREENDALE CAMPUS FOR A UNIVERSITY - THEY ALSO LEARN THAT GREENDALE'S FIRST DEAN MAY HAVE LEFT BEHIND A VALUABLE LEGACY - As Subway makes plans to purchase the Greendale campus for their own Subway University, the study group members contemplate the end of an era. Jeff (Joel McHale) considers a generous offer of employment he has received from Subway, while Britta (Gillian Jacobs) considers an offer she has received from Jeff. Meanwhile, Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) tells Annie (Alison Brie) and Abed (Danny Pudi) about Greendale's first Dean Russell Borchert, which leads to an interesting and potentially lucrative discovery in the walls of Greendale. Yvette Nicole Brown, Jonathan Banks and John Oliver also star. TV-PG D |

I just hope this episode is completely vanilla and accessible... or else they may cancel the show.

Just kidding! I'm capable of independent thought, so my enjoyment of TV programming isn't based on how many other people's eyeballs tune in. |

Not sure why, but I didn't like this episode. Maybe I'm still thinking about how awesome last week's show was.

As always some very clever, subtle bits throughout the episode. I'm hopeful we'll get a sixth season, but if this is the end, I like how they're going out so far.

I haven't really watched an entire episode through since sometime in the middle of season 3. I saw an ad for this during another show and decided to zap it. Outside of the song by the three ex-cheerios, which I watched all the way through for obvious reasons, I pretty much forwarded through the entire episode.

I somehow doubt the GI Joe turned off anyone that watched this show regularly beforehand :lol:
That said the new D&D episode and this one did nothing for me, hope the show doesn't go out on a low note. Man everything was down last night, even Big Bang Theory (used to get like a 5.4 all the time, now a 4.6). Wonder if that's just standard for this time of year (it's light out until like 8:30 here) or what was going on. |

If ANYTHING I think they lost about 200,000 viewers from last week who tuned in and tuned out when they realized this wasn't an animated episode.
Oh well. It was a fun ride. First Two Seasons were fantastic. |

I'll have to reserve judgment on this week's episode until we see how it plays out next episode. I enjoyed a good bit of it, but there was a lot that fell flat. The first problem I had is either Abed's character is completely played out, or he just doesn't work without Troy. I really disliked him running around trying to make a story out of anything. I get what they were going for, but the tone was way off. The second problem is that the "save Greendale" thing never really developed the way I thought it would this season, so the notion that they had done their jobs so competently that they had nothing left to do seemed totally manufactured. This season really was just about coming up with the flimsiest excuse possible to get the characters back together without any intention of telling any kind of big picture story. That's fine, but when they try to pay off said non-story, it means nothing.
Things I liked: - Starburns firing up some Dave Matthews - The Greendale board members. Those guys always make me smile. - The dean having a break down in his office. If nothing else, this season completely salvaged the dean's character for me. - Annie's buried treasure dance. |
