Great episode. Ward is either all in on HYDRA or going to extreme lengths to infiltrate. Either one is bad ass.

Loved the logo at the end.

Another missed opportunity would have been Skye commenting that the Rising Tide was right all along, though by this time, SHIELD has become her family.

The Ward turn was too predictable. He's a strong young white male, so of course he's evil.

Triplett will probably take his place on the team, at least for now.

You don't need to see the movie to understand the show, but when you do see the movie some of the major plot points will be spoiled if you watched the show first.

Cap started screening Thursday at 8 PM, so you've had 120 hours to see it before this episode aired

The HYDRA logo at the commercial break was a cool touch.

The audience wants the show to tie more into the MCU. Show ties into the MCU more and the audience complains. Seems legit.

Great episode tonight. I am glad the show has gotten progressively better.

Pretty cool episode. I was on the verge of quitting, but the last few weeks have reeled me back in.

The opening scene needed more cowbell though.

Awesome episode. Probably one of the best if not the best of the season.
This show got better and better. Too bad for those who didnt give it a chance and gave up so quickly

I did see Captain America: The Winter Soldier but that's OK. I enjoyed it for what it was.
Shit's about to get real, that's fo-sho!

I don't know who to trust outside of Coulson and May. And FitzSimmons & Skye.

What's really up with Ward? Lots of twists tonight.

One of the lines from Winter Soldier really hit home - "Sometimes you have to tear something down to build it back up." SHIELD is being torn down and will be rebuilt, but it's going to take all of this season and most of next season to do it.

This has definitely become one of the most entertaining shows on TV.

If he actually killed her.

Possibilities:

1. Ward really is working for Hydra and Garret.

2. The whole thing was a fake-out in order to get Garrett to trust Ward so he could infiltrate Hydra.

3. Ward really did kill Hand because she was working for Hydra and somehow tipped Coulson off. (Was this what Coulson pulled Ward aside for?) Also gets Garrett to trust Ward so he can infiltrate Hydra.

Awesome episode. Definitely the best of the season and a good follow up to the movie.

totally didn't expect the Ward reveal. I think he's full Hydra. Committing 3 murders isn't something a deep cover agent would do even for the most extreme circumstances. I think that would drive the story instead of some fake out.

"murders" This is the guy who has access to the icers, and it's possible that Fitz changed it from blue residue to red, i.e. blood. Plus Fitz was talking about all that top secret tech only high levels get access to.

Big list of theories: http://www.reddit.com/r/shield/comme...y_compilation/

Here's an interview with Brett Dalton (Ward) after this episode

Didn't expect the Ward turn, but I too am skeptical that he might just be undercover for SHIELD and Hand isn't really dead. Fun episode though, it links to Winter Soldier extremely well and I loved the trust issues going on between all the characters. The May/Coulson/Fitz standoff was pretty darn good in the hanger, as well as all the conversations over who was actually Hydra.

I hope they Ward actually is turned though, i'd be disappointed if the season ended and the entire team was all happy and back to normal.

I think a few days is a bit on the short side to make sure people are caught up on the movie (I saw it Friday), but I really like the concept and what they're doing. Worst case, DVR the show or skip this week and stream it later after seeing the movie

That episode would've made a good season-ending cliffhanger. Hopefully the real one will be just as good.

When Hand was telling Coulson about Cap stopping the hellicarriers, did she make a Black Panther reference? (Something about Hydra activity in East Africa)

^Only thing I heard was that they hit their facility in Africa, the Jungle.

Awesome episode. This show should have started in the winter and gone without breaks.

Re: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. -- "Turn, Turn, Turn" -- 4/08/14

Here's an interview with Jeph Loeb and Jeff Bell that explicitly points out some things from previous episodes that indicate what Ward's true intentions are.

The pertinent part:

Spoiler:
I’m really impressed at how you set everyone up to get to this point, because once you realize what’s happening, you definitely see how it all ties together.

LOEB: And part of what’s so much fun is being able to go back and look at the pilot and see where Coulson says to Ward, “we haven’t scores like yours since Romanov.” Now, at the time, you probably thought “oh, that’s a really good spy.” But then if you think about what Natasha has done with her life and the number of identities she’s had and the number of people that she’s burned along the way, that may have not been the best compliment to give somebody.

BELL: Let me put this on another level: Ward had put Garrett on this plane for a reason, and so he had to come in and be accepted to this team. And so if you’d look at how he related to everyone — Coulson loves projects. Here is a guy who didn’t have people skills. So Garrett says, can you help this guy Ward round off some of the rough edges? So he comes onto the team. Coulson is now vested, because he’s got a project. Who is Ward’s greatest threat? May. What does he do? He seduces her. Who is the one unknown on the team? Skye. He becomes her S.O. How do you get everyone rally around and trust you? You jump out of a plan trying to save someone else. Now, he had a parachute. Let’s say he failed to save Simmons, he would’ve been fine. Everything he’s done has solidified how people feel about him over the course of the season.

LOEB: And what was the next thing he had to do after he saved Simmons? He had someone on the plane who was jealous of him: Fitz. And what did they do? They went on a mission together and they had a really good time together. And a bromance was started. And that took care of that.

BELL: And then even when he was with Lorelei, and she was talking about the darkness inside of him and the other qualities, she saw something that a lot of other people hadn’t seen. So we feel like we laid things out pretty well. Because you don’t want to over tip your hand, but we think people are pretty smart, and you can look back and go, “oh yeah, it was all there the whole time if I had looked.” And what’s fun now that you’ve seen 17, watch it again, or watch 16 again, and every look Ward does seems to have a double meaning.

I love that. Give me an example of something that might be a little less “obvious” than the Romanov line that could be fun for viewers to realize.

LOEB: We’ll give you one that’s a lot of fun, and that’s in “Seeds,” episode 12. Towards the very end, there’s a lovely, heartwarming moment where Skye is standing in front of the fallen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents through the decades. Watch that scene, and keep an eye on Ward.

BELL: And what she’s saying as you’re looking at him.
Sneaky... sneaky...

Fun stuff, actually did a nice job of playing off CA:TWS, but standing on their own.

At this point in the story I think Ward is full-on Hydra, and has been. Doesn't mean he'll switch sides/grow a conscience/heart-of-gold at some point, but I think they'll keep an enemy in the ranks for a while.

Hope they also keep/integrate Trippett as well. He's played well off Simmons.

Loved "Don't Fear the Reaper".

Also, great touch by having Fritz shed a tear during the Hydra reveal. Added a nice bit of tension and sorrow.

I haven't read anything in this thread but I saw the giant warning at the top. Who thought it would be a good idea to do an episode with movie spoilers 5 days after the movie comes out? At least give me another week!
