Vera must have some kind of deal where she will only work 10 episodes per season. With the ratings this show gets, it deserves more than just 10.

13 became common so the elite shows had to move to 10. Game of Thrones started it

8 is the new 10 - TRUE DETECTIVE started it.

Good Lord, Kathleen is ridiculously MILFy hot. Hard to believe she is 41 (and the same age as Vera).

And I see Norman's body count gets another notch.

Too bad there won't be any nude Kathleen. Still nice to see her on the show.

Also nice to see Norman so concerned for Emma. Even in his 'psycho' kind of way.

First, I'm so glad this show was renewed. I think it's the best on TV at the moment. But just 10 episodes now each season!? For fuck sake, are we in England? Sorry, just being greedy. I want more.

It had 10 episodes in Season 1 too.

I'm fine with 10 episodes. I don't think this show needs any more than that per season. They can get away with 5 or 6 seasons and end strong.

It wouldn't be so bad if the seasons weren't so far apart. You forget things. I was struggling to remember the shooting incident someone mentioned to Norma in episode one.

I did not like Cody at first but she is quickly bringing out all of Normans bad tendencies.

Who knew Emma jumping off the rope would end badly lol.

If Dylan is not with his family I don't care about him and his drug dealing storyline and I won't mind if he dies in a future episode.

I wouldn't worry about it...we've had two murders in White Pine Bay (Ms. Wilson and Gil), and Romero seems to have forgotten about both of them.

Crap, you're right. My bad. For some reason I thought it was 13. But yeah, the time between seasons feels forever. Unlike "The Walking Dead". Which feels like there's a new season every few months

He probably assumes they're related to the drug trafficking, so he's not going to look too deeply.

What about the two 8 episode seasons of Breaking Bad. AMC can say they were half seasons, but c'mon.

And Mad Men is doing seven episodes.

The creative talent on these shows often get paid on a per-episode basis. It's in the networks' best interest and the producers to cut episode counts. Bates Motel might be limited to only 10 because Vera doesn't want to work any longer on a television series than that commitment.
