I was just re-watching the final episode of THE OFFICE, and

<spoilers>

I notice that Jim is Dwight's best man at Dwight's wedding - AND - Dwight refuses to allow Jim and Pam to quit, so that he could fire them and allow them to collect some nice severance packages.

So my question is this:

Having missed the entire last season of THE OFFICE - When did Dwight and Jim bury the hatchet and become friends?

It feels weird. It's like when Tom and Jerry ending their rivalry and becoming friends - it ain't right.

I would argue that they were always friends. But they probably didn't really realize it until the time when Dwight saved Jim from Roy. Their relationship seemed to shift after that moment.

Their relationship always seemed more of a brotherly type: Always fighting with each other, but would have the other's back if it came down to it.

One of the best is when Jim saves Dwight from getting fired (I think they were in Florida ... don't remember the details).

I'd agree with this. Jim wouldn't get away with the things he did with Dwigt if they weren't friends.

Their parents were neighbors and they grew up together.

I think you missed an episode.

They really bonded in jail... Jim was there for the DUI and Dwight was there for all the bodies they found on his farm land.

really? This plot sounds so ludicrous I'm almost tempted not to believe it.

But then again, I missed so much of The Office in the later years that who the hell knows.

If Dwight was really Jim's friend, he would have confronted him about his alcoholism instead of just looking the other way. He really should have staged an intervention.

Dwight is an enabler. He also failed to get Angela off heroin.

First it was purely sexual, but it grew into more of a friendship after Jim's sex reassignment was complete. Then they also realized their human trafficking business would be more successful if they worked in a more harmonious manner.

I agree with the others that they were always friends, but I don't think they admitted to themselves or each other until that episode when they killed that homeless guy with an ax.

I have my own work Dwight, and it's I agree a very brother type thing. My Dwight is leaving our office soon, and it really hits me hard...much harder than I ever figured it would.

I thought Jim did the reassignment surgery so they could label their trafficking business "minority owned" and reap tax benefits? Hmm the things you learn on the internet.

Actually we are more about kidnapping homeless people, injecting half with heroin and having the others smoke meth, and arranging fights between the two groups. The prize? Mescaline.

Love the alternate history episodes; but yes, they were obviously friends from before the first episode.
