Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
Just reading through these posts, it seems like everyone is praising Fallon more for the celebrity cameos than anything else. Personally, I don't think he holds a candle to Conan or Jimmy Kimmel.

I don't think I remember anything funny or any bits on Kimmel that stood the test of time.

It's so annoying.
Although I'm a big Ferguson fan, I find myself checking out Fallon lately first just because he's been doing more buzzworthy bits (although his interviews are still subpar). Ferguson seems to be fine just sliding into the end of his show, with less bits and no more opening numbers (which I loved).
My favorite Fallon from the last week or so (I love all of these types of bits):

Conan's still my favorite but I will say I frequently switch over to Fallon when he comes on halfway through. The Orlando shows last week were great.

Louis CK praises Fallon
http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/loui...on-1201253507/
In assessing the latenight personnel who’ve come and gone, C.K. noted that “what’s interesting about all the changes taking place is that even though Jimmy Fallon is the most different, he’s still the guy with the skyline, the desk and the band.” C.K. said Fallon has garnered his attention because “his voice is so smart and he’s such a sweet guy, and he is the guy who has totally changed the tempo and the feeling of latenight.”

Brad Pitt is probably the biggest star who still avoids/refuses to do interviews on talk shows.
He's been a movie star for over 20 years and I don't think he has sat down with any talk show host more than twice in all that time except for Oprah, and I don't think he has ever been on Letterman.

Leno will be the final guest on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
The ultimate would be Leno doing guest stint on Conan and Leno doing a interview on Letterman.
Imagine the ratings if Leno did the Letterman show and what do they have to lose since Dave is leaving and Leno has no show anymore?

It may have been scripted, because I don't remember ever seeing a late night host completely blindsided, but having Nicole Kidman on to reveal her first date with Jimmy was pretty funny.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
Nicole Kidman strikes me as the type of actress who comes on those type of talk shows who is totally controlled by her PR people as to what and what not to say. That is why I think she just kind of blurted it out and then because Fallon was so shocked that he blew it with her, she went with it.
Think about it, the guy had a shot at one of the most beautiful actresses in the world, and he didn't even know simply because he never thought he had a shot at her in the first place! And she was probably at shocked at the time, because she's Nicole Kidman and very few men turn her down for a date, and this guy is playing Video Games!
Maybe it was a scripted, but I'm going to say this was spontaneous and really funny!

I think because it was so awkward, it was probably unscripted. Jimmy never could get himself back on track throughout the whole thing.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
The only reason I thought it may have been scripted at least somewhat is that he's the one that brought up the fact that they met once, years ago. I was under the impression that they go over what they're going to talk about beforehand, and I'd think he would surely try to get the story straight before bringing it up on air, but it also did seem like a genuine moment.
I think the producer said that they looked it up and it was probably shortly after Nicole was name People's Most Beautiful.

I too thought it was unscripted. Or if it was, they did a damn fine job. The segment was great and had me laughing. Jimmy's been killing the monologue's lately - last night's bit with the Hogan, Nagan, Keegan, etc. thing had me in stitches.

He has the best Late Night show and I like the Late Night Superlatives when he makes fun of the NFL players playing on SNF.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
It was real, and that's what makes it so great.
No reason to think that this subject would come up in Kidman's pre-interview with a producer.
Though it was obviously on Kidman's mind, it was Fallon who brought it up. Makes sense that he would be willing to mine his own past embarrassment to liven up an interview, but the story went in a direction that he did not anticipate and that's when it got great.
Reminds me of the time when Julia Roberts surprised Letterman with the fact that she had tried to go through his producer to ask him on a date, and the producer refused. Coincidence that soon after, the guy was fired?
