Lol
Seth Meyers sticks to the interviews with his guests and he is one of the rare Big 4 network late night hosts that has political guests.

^That was great. Tom Cruise once again shows he is awesome.
I have read he is a prep-aholic. I wonder how much he practiced his songs?

Normally not a fan of lip syncing, but that was pretty good.

Does Fallon not realize what an idiot he looks like making those "mind blown", laughing, fan boy faces/reactions in the background at EVERYTHING a guest does? Man, I can't stand watching him.

Count me in as someone who hates what Fallon has done with Late Night TV. I guess I am in the minority because he is #1 so what do I know? It is almost to the point where I don't even bother to watch any late night TV anymore because this seems to be a trend of doing stupid games with the guest every night and I personally find it unwatchable. The only time I even bother if its a movie or TV show I am really interested to see new clips on it when the guest is promoting it.

The Cruise singing bit was pretty good though.

tried his new ice cream flavor. very good!
When was the last time Kimmel did anything funny?
Does he save his good material for the post Oscar shows since nothing else he has done is memorable?
I will stick with Fallon. Colbert has no chance to compete when he starts his show in September.
Late Night Superlatives when he posts photos of athletes is a underrated segment.

Again, this is why Howard Stern interviews will never be topped, because while yes, Stern preps himself with a bunch of questions beforehand, the guests usually have no idea where the conversation will go.

How did Fallon got the Tonight Show still boggles my mind? Someone who possess the interview skill of a 15 year old is given a talk show. I tuned in yesterday solely for Cruise and turned it off after 2 mins of his interview. Good god, it was phony. Cruise is the best he's ever seen, his stunts are incredible and just unbelievable? I'm gonna puke.
Do you have the delusional expectation that Cruise is going to say something interesting / controversial / revealing? Do you think Fallon (or any other host) is going to press Cruise on any topic with regard to his personal life?
That lip sync battle is 20 times more entertaining than any staged conversation with Cruise could ever hope to be.
You think Fallon and Cruise were phony. Come up with five questions that you wanted to see Cruise asked.

Celebrities are so managed and packaged that no one you'd care about hearing say something is ever going to make the mistake of saying anything you'd care to hear.

As for questions, hey, with Conan, it does get interesting sometimes. I still remember the butt plugs conversation with Jennifer Lawrence on the show.

I think its a two way street in that everything is pre-packaged today by these actors, but the fans are the first ones to complain and mock them when things get awkward or off script. Alot of this is because of social media and that this stuff can be posted right away as everyone can see it, and comment on it and it just builds.

Why do you want to see Tom Cruise (or any big star) interviewed on a late night talk show?

Actually, Tom Cruise had the most compelling/bizzare interview in the past 10-15 years on Oprah where he jumped on the couch. It was really the dawn of social media and I thought he got alot of crap he didn't deserve. It's like people want it both ways: they want the actors to be honest and let their guard. So Tom Cruise does and professes his love for Katie Holmes in a different way then people expect, and gets mocked to the point where I actually think it hurt his reputation.
.
.
Also, do you think he would ever let that happen again?

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
A good interviewer would have first done his/her research prior to the show. Conan doesn't even hide the fact that he asks celebs questions from his note card. Whether he personally prepares it or his staff does it, do your god damn homework. Do I expect celebs to give you the 100% truth? No, but a good interview will know how to bring it out and keep it entertaining at the same time. Letterman's first question for both Paris Hilton and Martha Stewart were how's the slammer. He doesn't give a shit.
Or more correctly: What do you think Cruise would allow Fallon to ask him about?
This is a publicity appearance. I guarantee you that it was agreed upon in advance that Fallon would not bring up Scientology or Cruise's personal life. If Fallon goes off-script or breaks that agreement, there's a shit storm, and future guests have to wonder if they will be ambushed. Dave was willing to humiliate Paris Hilton because he did not give a shit about her, but he would not cross Julia Roberts asking about her personal life when it was breaking news. Fallon needs the trust of the industry to keep his show going more than he needs an interesting interview with Cruise. He and Cruise both got what they needed from the lip sync battle: controversy-free publicity.

LOL @ people losing their shit because Fallon doesn't do "60 Minutes"-style investigative interviews.

Is this supposed to be a slam on Conan?

I like the games on Fallon. It gets the guests relaxed, loose, and lets them have some fun instead of watching just scripted questions.
