Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
Colbert is busy booking boring politicians on his shows.
If I want that I could watch Meet the Press or Face the Nation and have the same level of boredom and nausea. |

We know, because you said the same thing 9 posts earlier.

I want to give Taylor credit for the intelligence to see that Fallon is just a stop on the publicity train with a consummate celebrity ass-kisser, and that Colbert is trying to save the US from ruin.

And Colbert is hilarious, btw. |

People in the 70's through the 90's did not realize how good it was back then when politics did not become the center focus of the shows and they were fun to watch and not shoving a political agenda down your throat and there were more musical guests too. |

You literally have access to over a hundred different entertainment options every minute of the day. Do you live in some fucked up dimension where at 11:30 every night your TV only gets ABC, NBC, and CBS? |

Go back and watch some actual Tonight Shows with Johnny Carson, not just the selected "Best of" clips. Those shows are D-U-L-L, especially when it was 90 minutes. Guests stay on forever and tell boring, long-winded stories about nothing.
I was looking through the list of episodes on Tubi, saw one that had Caitlyn Jenner listed as a guest and watched that -- that's the one that had the football joke -- and then a watched a few more monologues from other episodes and *yikes*. |
Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
I also watched a couple of old Tom Snyder interviews on youtube... the one with KISS and another one with Harlan Ellison and the cast of Star Trek, and it's like he literally knew absolutely nothing about the people/topics he was interviewing and covering. Jeez, man, you're a paid journalist/talk show host. At least do fifteen minutes of research before you light up a cigarette and start the cameras.

Hey, hey, hey, hey. We’re not here to trash Tom Snyder.

Yeah, no shit. I was watching some old Tonight Show episodes from the 1970s on Tubi and Johnny Carson's monologues were terrible. It was really kind of shocking just how unfunny they were. The only remotely funny joke I heard was where he took a dig at a football team. I can understand why Howard Stern hated his guts.

I watch if he has a good guest but Colbert is not funny at all and I never lost my shit laughing at his material and maybe a chuckle here and there sometimes. This should have been funny but totally lame |

At least it was not all politics. Maron talked about this and it was a different era back then. |

This should have been funny but totally lame https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0z_GtHIVns Colbert has been on TV for 20 years and is widely regarded as both hilarious and a genius. So, why can't you admit that your sense of humor does not align with Colbert's and the millions of people who love him, and just shut up about it. Why do you keep having to let us know that you don't find him funny? We get it. You never have to tell us about it again, ever. And as for the politics on his show. That's the show he wants to make. That's the show that has the most viewers of the 3 network shows. You don't like it. Great. Don't watch it and shut the fuck up about it. He'll be gone in 6 months, and the ugly specter of a late talk show host devoting his precious interview time to politicians and political commentators will have passed. CBS will probably replace Colbert with some kind of daily "news" wrap-up show that resembles a North Korean newscast, so people can be informed of what a great job Trump is doing and how great he is and how he is so virile and fucks like a jack hammer all night long with his kong dong cock. And Fallon will be over on NBC shilling products and cackling like a coked up idiot. |

I feel like he doesn't work for me nearly as much as he does most people but to say Colbert isn't a funny person is pretty wild. Like please include me in your social circle if that isn't a funny guy.
