The dancing bit he did with Taylor Swift at sporting events was pretty funny. |

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
I thought it would show up at the Safeway and Wal-Mart websites but this looks better than the last Fallon B&J concoction with potato chips.

Does anyone know the name of the girl that was singing in the performance of "The Mexican" by GZA with Tom Morello? She wasn't introduced, so I doubt it's someone famous. I don't think she's on the recording, as the vocal seems to be sampled there.

Kara Lane of K.I.D.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
Yeah, confirmed on her Twitter account: https://twitter.com/karalaney
PS do NOT google Karla Lane. Kara's hot though, she kind of reminds me of Natasha Khan. |

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
I don't watch alot of Late Night TV anymore, but when it did become the norm to do stupid skits with the guest after the interview? I notice that Kimmel and Fallon, but I'm not sure Letterman does it? I say that because I tuned in last night to Mad Men's January Jones and they had Fallon and Bubba Watson chipping golf balls and the loser would get a pie in the face by her.
Seriously? This is what Late Night TV is these day? Maybe I'm in the minority and just out of touch but to people who watch Late Night enjoy these dumb skits? |
Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread
I generally do enjoy those dumb skits, and they seem to have caught on quite well. Some are better than others and some are just lame.
It isn't something they did on Letterman or Leno, and they rarely did it on Conan. |

Oh well I guess I'm just getting old cause none of this stuff appeals to me, as I am at the point where the only part of Late Night TV I watch anymore is the interview with a big celebrity promoting something. I'm not even commited to one host or show, its just who is getting the better guest that night. |

I remember on Carson he would do real skits with the stars, not some 'pie in the face' skit like last night. One of the funniest was Carson/Betty White playing Adam & Eve as she was ragging on his 'small' privates the whole time, as they would have real/prepared lines to say.

Seriously? This is what Late Night TV is these day? Maybe I'm in the minority and just out of touch but to people who watch Late Night enjoy these dumb skits? Basically, this is Fallon's innovation to fight the sameness of a TV landscape over-saturated with celebrity interviews. Nowadays, the same star will show up on two of Letterman, Fallon, and Meyers (and sometimes all three) in the same week. Add that to the appearances on Kimmel, E!, Ellen, and all the daytime shows. No one past puberty is under the illusion that these interviews are friendly and spontaneous chats, so enduring the same scripted nothingness is just a boring chore. The stars appear on these shows for two reasons: to increase awareness of their product, and to entice viewers to buy it. A huge component of that enticement is selling yourself, not the movie, to the audience. The simple idea is that if the viewers like you, they will be more likely to pay to come see you. (Do you want to go see that new Kevin Hart movie? Sure, I like him.) Fallon and his willing guests have figured out that being yourself, playing a game, showing a truly spontaneous side of your personality, and having fun, is a far more effective way for a star to get people to like them than repeating the same canned anecdote about "how much fun the set was" over and over on show after show. Personally, I thought I would hate Fallon as a host, and still can barely stand to watch him attempt to interview a guest, but if I know he and his guests will be playing charades or Password, I'm there. |

I watch the monologue and whatever the first comedy bit is, then delete the rest of the show. |

Personally, I thought I would hate Fallon as a host, and still can barely stand to watch him attempt to interview a guest, but if I know he and his guests will be playing charades or Password, I'm there. I guess the new generation of Fallon, Meyers, Kimmel, etc are doing these little skits with guests after a short interview, and it just isn't for me. The other problem is none of these guys can pull off a good monologue (simply because they dont have a backround in standup comedy), so the shows are pretty bland anymore. It's almost like each host cant carry a whole show for me because of their flaws. Conan has great skits, but he can't do standup and gets too goofy in interviews. Fallon and Meyers interviews are almost cringeworthy as they just don't look comfortable up there. Kimmel is actually pretty good interviewing guest, but his humor doesn't work well in the monolgue and skits. I'm usually in the minority of stuff like this, as more people watch Jersey Shore then Mad Men, so what do I know? |

Same here but I do that only for Conan, Fallon, and Seth Meyers and I record Kimmel and Letterman sometimes but Letterman and Kimmel are not my favorite hosts and I rarely watch anything they do unless they have a good guest or band on the show.
