Hell of an episode.
I can't understand why this isn't more popular. An episode like this one should be shown to anyone on the fence. It also amazes me how something of such quality can be done for DC, but they can't get their shit together for the movies. Maybe they should hire some of this team.

This was a damn good episode. The action scenes were well done as par for the course for this show. I liked how Oliver found out the truth about Thea without the show beating around the bush, and am curious to see where that goes. Still have a hard time buying Moira as a mayoral candidate though.
The lesbian kiss between Sara and Nyssa was....unexpected. Kinda makes me wonder if that's why they went with Nyssa and not Talia.
Biggest weakness about this episode was(shocker) Laurel. I understand her frustrations about seeing Sara again, but the problem is that the writers have made her such an unlikeable character over the last several episodes that this just made her even more unlikeable. I bet she either dies by the end of this season, or ends up working with Brother Blood.
But yeah kick ass episode. I wonder how much more popular the show would be if it starred Batman and not Green Arrow though.

If they want us to accept Laurel as the Black Canary instead of Sara, they have to stop making Sara so damn awesome. The salmon ladder, the fight scenes, the willingness to sacrifice herself to save others instead of wallowing in booze, pills, and self-pity...
Heck, Laurel was a jerk even in the flashback scene.

I just had someone say they really don't care about this show too much yet are still watching it? o.O This show is great! It's done quite a bit for a season and a half and it seems almost rare when a show can be really good from the start. I hope they keep it up.
Really don't care what they do with Laurel at the moment. They need to fix her because I doubt many care for the character at this time.

I knew Katie is skinny IRL but, she seems to have lost the little meat she had to begin with. I mean, I used to think she was pretty now its just like "blah" I wouldnt hit it if I could.

No, because the showrunners have repeatedly stated that Laurel will eventually become the Canary. It sucks, but there it is.
Sara and Oliver are now an item, Oliver chose to save her over Shado, Slade has sworn to destroy everything Oliver loves - Sara's death will be what inspires Laurel to straighten out her life and take on the mantle of the Canary in tribute to her sister.
Trouble is, Cassidy lacks Lotz' physicality, the character does not have the training and experience that Sara has, and the show has done such an excellent job of making Sara awesome and Laurel unlikeable that the switch is now just a horrible, horrible idea.

I would like to watch Katrina Law and Olivia Munn in a lesbian porno. That is all.

Fine episode. Whoever the actress playing Nyssa Al Ghul, give her a huge raise and make her a regular. What a stunner.
Lots of subplot development with Oliver and Moira, Felicity, the Lance family, all on top of the new Oliver/Roy dynamic being turned on its head last episode. Excellent fight choreography as well. And the DC geek in me was kvelling over watching live-action Green Arrow and Black Canary riding a motorcycle together.
They need an Ambush Bug episode. And then produce a fake commercial or two in which he interrupts the proceedings. Or maybe Tailgunner Jo?

Did they just turn Black Canary bisexual?
That's a revision I won't protest.
I really don't think they intend to turn this Laurel anymore into the actual Black Canary. That ship has sailed with how they've handled the character.
I'm not a huge fan of the political sub-plot running with Oliver's mother.

Awesome episode yet again. Some great action and fight scenes.
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised that they made Sara Bisexual. Liked seeing Katrina Law from Spartacus here. Good opening introduction for her. How the hell was she able to board a plane after all that chaos?

I get why Laurel is mad, but I really can't stand her. The flashback didn't really work because the weight loss just stood out way too much.
I just can't see this version of Laurel becoming the Canary. I think we're past the point where it would even be remotely believable. She just doesn't have the physicality that Lotz has. Especially has training as a dancer and that's helped her a lot as well.
I'm glad that Felicity couldn't lie to Ollie about the secret. Glad that wasn't dragged out.

I'd rather they break from continuity, keep Sara as Black Canary, and cut Laurel loose.
I figure what will happen is that the League of Assassins will demand a "replacement" for Sara, and Laurel will end up kidnapped, brainwashed, trained and turned. Sara and Ollie end up rescuing her, Sara dies, Laurel regains her personality and carries on Sara's legacy. Or something like that.

Arrow producers promised that they’d put their own twist on Nyssa al Ghul, and boy, did they deliver. (Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the latest episode of Arrow!)
In the episode that aired Wednesday night, which saw Sarah (Caity Lotz) return to Starling City to check on spiraling Laurel (Katie Cassidy), not only did we get to see the first TV version of Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter, but the show revealed that in their world, Sarah and Nyssa (Katrina Law) were in a romantic relationship. And as the producers revealed in a Q&A with reporters, it was a secret they worked very hard to protect.
“Really, for spoilers, because the [casting] sides always make it out to the Internet, we made up fake sides for Nyssa because we didn’t want to spoil the fact [that she had been in a relationship with Sarah],” producer Marc Guggenheim revealed. In fact, they renamed the character and in the fake script sides, stuck the character opposite Oliver Queen. “So we narrowed it down to Katrina and this other actress, and we brought them both back for chemistry reads with Caity Lotz and said, ‘Oh, by the way, she’s gay. And oh, by the way, it’s Nyssa al Ghul.’”
The decision to make the character gay, however, was mostly a result of the writers’ efforts to illuminate Sarah’s backstory, said EP Andrew Kreisberg. “It was really more about Sarah than anything else,” he said. “And, by the way, we thought of this at the beginning of the season. If you watch 2.05, there’s a reference to ‘the beloved and you think that’s going to keep you safe.’ And we talked about, ‘Well, does Ra’s al Ghul have a son?’ Then we were like, ‘Could it be Talia?’ Then we felt like Talia had just been done in the [Dark Knight] movies. And one of our writers had actually brought up the idea of Nyssa. And it just felt like something new and different.”
Additionally, said Kreisberg, they loved the other functions such a twist would serve — like “the idea that Sarah found herself in this terrible world and found this one person who treated her with love and kindness,” and the effect it would have on her other interpersonal relationships. “For [Det.] Lance — this hardened, tough cop who’s probably not the most progressive guy — that he was like, ‘I’m just glad you had somebody who loved you and took care of you in those nightmare years,’ those moments felt like they would be special and play for us.”
Guggenheim added, though, that throughout the process, they avoided labeling Sarah’s sexuality — especially considering that at the end of the episode, she sleeps with Oliver. “We actually specifically avoid using the term bisexual. We didn’t want to label her at all. [We wanted to] let her be her own person,” he said. “If the audience wants to label, fine. But we wanted to not make it like it’s that specific, because it is a very specific relationship to Sarah and Nyssa. And maybe Sarah has had other female relationships, but we’ll get to that in due course when it’s right, if it’s right. But we wanted to not just do something to shock.”
The pair also revealed a heap of information about what’s coming up next for Oliver and Co. Below are the best scoops:

And at least 3 from "The Gates"
Det. Lance, his dead partner, and Roy all played on "The Gates". There may be more but those stuck out for me.
