It was an homage to David Fincher who did indeed direct Zodiac, Seven, Fight Club and Suit & Tie for Justin Timberlake.

Quoted for truth. I'm surprised she hasn't gotten more film roles considering how charismatic she is.

She has a major role in my dreams.

I had no idea who or what they were trying to parody.

Cute episode nonetheless.

I've only sporadically caught the last season and half of Community, but this felt like a classic episode.

It really did.

And I am not exactly a season 4 hater (though I have my negative opinions).

Fantastic episode. Definitely up to season 2 form. I disliked the re-pilot and thought the second episode last week was just OK. This episode was great and gives me hope for a great (final) season.

A Fincher parody, yes. But the scenes were lifted predominantly from Zodiac. Was there a reference to Suit & Tie? I missed that.

Dan Harmon is back and the show takes clever risks. The last few minutes is exactly what makes this show so awesome. Or Starburns in the barn. Those kind of risks are usually seen in film, not television.

He was also in the episode.

Ha! Not that I'm aware. Just think it's funny Fincher directed Suit & Tie.

He also directed Madonna's Express Yourself and Vogue, Paula Abdul's Straight Up and Aerosmith's Janie's Got a Gun, among like 30 others.

A lot was taken from Social Network as well.

We loved the song at the end of the episode! we had to rewind it a couple of times to listen to the lyrics.

What was up with the Pierce part of the episode... it brought everything to a halt ???? Did I miss a joke?

Due to behind the scenes issues, Checvy Chase was fired from Community. The season premiere cameo was shot without him on set and referenced a lot of the issues with him.

This episode effectively ends any speculation, well it is Pierce after all... so he could have faked his death again... but still it ends the rumors that Chase would return to the show.

Never saw Zodiac, but loved the episode nonetheless. Back to form, IMO.

I loved the Abed and Troy stuff with the blankets, coffee, wheelchair, and channeling Mrs. Kintner's infamous face slap.

My crazy ass 'putting way too much thought into this' theory; Pearce was the Ass Crack Bandit since the attacks stopped after news broke of him dying. He was gone and banned from the school, but that wouldn't stop him from wanting to be a part of the study group. Maybe he was even put out that he wasn't invited back into the group after they got back together. This was his way to be involved with the group without being there. Everyone in the study group benefitted in some way from the ACB. Britta was inspired for her psychology paper, it put Annie & Jeff together, Shirley made extra coin by rounding up sales, Troy & Abed acting out movie cliches. Anyway, yeah he was an ass and they killed him off but sent him out with one good deed for the group.

Rip that one apart.

Meh on this one. I like that it followed up the Season 2 mention and Ben Folds made me chuckle. Otherwise it seemed really off and not as strong as their other parodies. And they've already done the crime thing (and better than this) on the Law and Order one.

Nothing really funny or memorable but I'll keep tuning in.

Finally watched this last (along with this week's episode).

Loved them both. Great stuff. Definitely felt like the show in season 2.

I think it was another play off Zodiac. Zodiac has a feeling to it that even though they were trying to catch a killer, real life was still going on around them that they can't ignore. It's a pretty clever play off a movie they were simply doing a parody of but I thought it made sense in that context.

I do wonder if they'll rehash this and reveal who the ACB is but I hope they don't. It ended pretty much exactly like Zodiac did.
