Re: Mythbusters 2014 Season
this season apparently also had a lot of episodes that had already aired in previous years in Australia and the UK

No Kari, no care.

Re: Mythbusters 2014 Season
I could see them getting rid of the other 2 (Grant brings nothing to the table, and Torey, while entertaining is just a goofball), but over the years Kari has become a real icon for the sciences in the eyes of girls and women, I'm shocked they shit-canned her too.

Grant is easily the most technically talented of the three of them. He's the one who actually seems to make the things that work.

Yeah; a lot of what they do is based on robots he creates. Without him, they're back to doing nothing but myths that can be tackled with ballistic gel, wood, and explosions.

Kari, at least from what they show her doing, adds the least to creating the myths. She may do a lot more behind the scenes, and I trust that she does, but on tv she rarely does anything beyond executing the trials.

I was shocked to see they let the 3 go. I would think they want to spin them off into their own show. It has been years since they actually worked with Adam and Jamie - or worked on the same myth together.
I wonder if there was some sort of 'diva' issues going on there - could that explain why the 5 never worked on the same myth.
I also agree that the show has become - let's blow something up.

On another topic - I loved the last episode.
The airplane boarding methods was fantastic:
AeroMexico uses the WILMA method
Southweset uses the section / free for all
Jetblue uses the back to front

I assumed it was all due to budget. The show isn't nearly as big a draw as it used to be and going back to A & J only probably is all that kept it alive for now. Either that or they're running out of material and plan on stretching myths out so there's only 1-2 per episode rather than 1-2 from each group.

If it is budget - then why do they have to do such big builds?
The most useful myths this year was the traffic, attraction, and airplane myths. Human behavior type.
Did they really have to spend $$$ on blowing up another hot water heater with model house, or flip cars on a corvette, drop a piano on a house, bomb in a garbage truck, apple bob bungee jumping?
If it is $$ then It seems like in the past 2 seasons they were spending it like it was going out of style with elaborate sets, blowing things up on the grand scale - when they can bust it in the testing phase, etc.

The best myths are always the small scale ones like "bull in a china shop," testing blow dryers vs paper towels in restrooms, are sneezes contagious and the like.

For those who didn't know, the Science Channel is running a Mythbusters marathon of every episode. Interesting watching the early ones.

IDK, outside a couple episodes, I mostly skipped the B-team part. I really wish they shook it up and mixed and matched the two teams or even do one mega episode with all 5 together (like they did early on IIRC).
