Breaking Bad - some Questions

Re: Breaking Bad - some Questions
Boring is probably the wrong word. Uneventful? wheels spinning? Whatever the descriptor the first half of 3 didn't fit with the previous two seasons nor what followed. It was a chore to get through.

Netflix has a lot to do with it's popularity. People hear it's good. And it's there at your fingertips.
Also, by the time you get to Face Off and the Gus/cartel stuff, the show is undeniably entertaining.

Re: Breaking Bad - some Questions
You guys are lucky.
I started watching after the second season ended. I got the first season dvd, there was no bluray available at that time, of course. Then, because I was so in love, and couldn't wait, bought the entire second season in PSN, yep PS3, thankfully they the HD version. Then I had to wait 3-4 months to start watching season 3 live.
Season 3 live, the first half, wasn't boring, or uneventful, or something like that. But if you are marathoning the show it may feel like that. You can check the threads here. Now the Fly episode... just check the thread. I actually don't hate that episode, or think it's bad, but the previous one was so great.

I liked the show from the beginning, but I felt that about midway through season 3 is when it goes from being really good to being fantastic.

Re: Breaking Bad - some Questions
Just finished Season 4, wow what a season finale ! bloody brilliant !
And the fake out with Gus walking out of the room
Clever writing to wing Mike early on so he wasn't part of it all.
I hope Mike comes back in Season 5 (no spoilers), i am sure he will
Bring on season 5 !
I still have it to watch, you have all seen it, suck it bitches !

I think that a lot of people thought the seasons started slow but they always built up and got amazing by the end. Personally I'm a fan of slow burning dramas so I was never really bothered by the "slower episodes" of the series.

Same here. It didn't take long at all for me to fall for this show. Just watched the last episode yesterday, such a great fucking show. I miss it already.
And yes, the wife was incredibly annoying.

Re: Breaking Bad - some Questions
Finished ! all i can see is wow, double wow !
I can now see what all of the fuss and tvgasms were about
When you take the 5 series as a whole, the character development is just amazing. You get some shows when one season a character is X and then all of a sudden the next season, they are Y
The way this was written, the journey of an everyday chemistry teacher to a tragic meth drug kingpin is actually believable.
Not one weak performance in the cast, even supporting cast like Jesse Plemens as Todd were great.

Re: Breaking Bad - some Questions
When i first started this thread, you can tell i was quite indifferent to this show. Now i've finished it, boy there's some serious withdrawal symptons to go through !
I just feel empty and naked. TV just isn't the same. I watch other shows, good shows, and they just don't have it
I am now watching all extras from the blurays from all seasons and anything i can find breaking bad related (e.g. Mythbusters special, breaking bad cast on conan etc etc)
Breaking bad is definitely, definitely a once in your lifetime kind of show. Quite amazing how my attitude to the show has changed from season 2 to the end.

There's this small part of me that wishes Skylar had gone more Lady MacBeth than all freaked out, but the show is practically perfect.

Re: Breaking Bad - some Questions
This is one of the few shows I can recommend to anyone and wont have to worry about whether it fits their tastes. Alot of shows like Game of Thrones and Walking Dead, which are great shows, still aren't for some people's tastes.
The ironic thing about Breaking Bad is I didn't know ONE person who watched this show during its initial run, yet everyone I know now is watching it through Netflix, DVD or Bluray. And EVERYONE I know is breezing through the series like I did (I watched the whole series in less then a month) because its so damn addictive!
I will say I am sort of sad that I watched this whole series in a few weeks, and really wish I saw it during its initial run every Sunday night. Most of my friends haven't finished up the series, so I can't talk about it without spoiling anything!
Another thing that is great about this show is there is no point where you feel the show went on too long, and it never got to a point where you feel the writers didn't know where to go with the show. A great show like The Sopranos stalled after season 4, and seems like the writers went through the motions the final few seasons. The same thing happened on Homeland as the show didn't know where to go after Season 2. Breaking Bad is great from Episode 1 to the Finale.
