Episode 9 is probably one of the best episodes of TV this season. It's like a mini feature film. 24-level action and suspense. I am pretty sure you'll like it.

James Spader is awesome. Be patient with Megan Boone who is the other lead. She gets better as the weeks go by.
I think people miss read her character a bit. She is supposed to be green, and not really that great of an agent. She is elevated because of Reddington. It is an awesomely fun show.

It was tough to pick just one, as Americans, Masters of Sex, the Bridge, Orange, Orphan Black, Hannibal and even Bates Motel were great new shows.
In the end though I think the arc of Hannibal pushes it to the 1A position with the others just a scintilla behind. Really a fantastic year for new shows to be honest.

Voted for The Bridge (thought it had the best combo of plot/acting/writing), but the list of options surprised me as I didn't think there were that many good new shows this year until I saw that list

Orphan Black, The Americans and The Blacklist would be close seconds.

There's a difference in playing a rookie and coming across as a rookie actor. In the few I've watched it's the latter. She's always the weakest actor in the scene.

2 pages in and no clear winner this year -- 5 in double digits with votes. It's been a strong year with several new shows that were very good - though no runaway show that was truly great, imo. These results are pretty much where I expected them to be.

The list would have been better but I forgot to include The Fall, House of Cards among others.

Just seeing the wide amount of shows getting multiple votes, and those shows that have been gotten lots of great critical reception (But on networks like Sundance) that might not get a ton of viewers.

Although I don't think you can say no show was great, it just means there are several great shows (Or at the very least, several that people consider the best).

If you look at many of the top 10 lists, most have 3-4 of the news shows in their top 10 (And most are not Hannibal or Blacklist). The Sundance shows have had a strong showing in those top 10 lists (Top of the Lake, Rectify and the Returned)

^ Agree. What I meant was there wasn't a single show that led the pack, so to speak. As you mention, several very good (great, to some) shows at the top of most lists. I'm in the camp that doesn't put Hannibal or The Blacklist at the very top. FWIW, I'm in the middle of watching Rectify right now and recently finished watching Top of the Lake.

Sundance has quickly become a network contender.

Orange is the New Black is Netflix, not BBCA. Orphan Black is BBCA not Netflix.

Re: Best New Show of 2013

I voted Brooklyn Nine-Nine simply because it's so refreshing to have a network comedy that is as funny as it is, but this year was great with The Blacklist and Hannibal. Two of the best network dramas to hit TV in a very long time.

I still maintain Marvels Agents of SHIELD is the best, but will now take the time to give an honorable mention to
Super Fun Night as I just went through a marathon session and it is FANTASTIC!!!1!

For anyone that missed "Black Mirror," DirecTV will be rearing the first (and probably the second) season starting May 28th on Audience.

After Binge Watching the first 5 episodes of House of Cards, I am ashamed that I missed House of Cards on the list.

Wow, I missed this thread the first time around. What a terrible, pretentious list by the critics. How Sleepy Hollow and Broadchurch made the top ten are beyond me.

How is it pretentious? I mean, Sleepy Hollow made the top 10.

So now that we're well into 2014, I'll say Orange is the New Black and Rick and Morty were my two favorites.

Hannibal by far. And based on the results of the poll it looks like I'm far from alone.

The lone exception and probably the most indefensible on the list. Three Sundance shows in the top ten? Be aware I've seen nine of the ten shows on the list, this is not an idle dismissal. TV critics largely come from the same small demographic pool and their tastes heavily trend toward certain types of shows.

That show was so cool, particularly the 1st episode. I posted a thread about it but I don't think anyone responded. Supposedly they're doing a 3rd series, at least acc'd to wiki.

They turned Behind the Candelabra into a TV show?
