The Gov gone back to the dark side.

Nice to see Kirk Avedevo (Charlie from Fringe) on the show.

I was bored with this episode. I thought the last episode was the worse but this one even badder. It was pretty much paint by numbers. Then the hot lesbians were typical tv show stuff. Why not have a average looking person or manly looking lesbian. Just plain boring.

This episode was what I was afraid of last time, with another episode concentrating on the Governor and only getting to the Prison at the very end. Not a fan, but I liked this one better since he's just a dick and murdering people.

For comic readers given the preview:

Spoiler:
A tank! And the girl he's with is Lily, which is the name of the woman that shoots and kills Judith (and Lori) right? I don't expect the same outcome, but at least the raid on the prison seems like it will turn out far more interesting then last time around during the previous season.

The way the half-season finale table has been set it virtually invalidates the entire half season. They have fully circled back to recycle the final episode of the previous season. Everything I feared would happen when they reintroduced the governor - which after last week I thankfully thought might have been misplaced - was fully realized tonight.

Welcome back Governor!

I guess they really are getting back to the comics. I didn't think they could there after the end of season 3.

Camp slaughter; I wonder if that was the introduction to comic spoiler
Spoiler:
the hunters

I wish Mitch had the balls to kill the Governor the first chance he got. How do you simply forget about a guy killing your brother?

There was no sign of cannibalism that anyone mentioned but its still possible. I figured after Dale died and Herschel got his leg amputated we wouldn't see them at all.

Spoiler:
The minute I saw the promo for the midseason finale I went "The only person they can still kill the same way the storyline occurred is Tyrese. And he's probably still got a death wish for himself. But I do wonder if Lily is going to shoot whoever might be holding Judith. To still play that story out even now will be completely shocking.

Good episode(did not like last week's), good build-up for next week, but yes 3rd or 4th time now attacking the prison. It was twice in the comics. The problem is, as people have said, they spent a huge portion of their budget on the prison and are milking it for too many seasons. We should have been at this point in the story at last year's fall finale.
Also as other's have said, A bit far fetched that the entire camp is following this new leader, especially the tank driver who's following the guy who killed his brother. Lily and her sister just buying whatever Brian is selling, a guy they just met. What a hero

Re: The Walking Dead -- "Dead Weight" -- 11/24/13

I agree with Vin, weak sauce all around. This entire season has been disappointing compared to the excellent first half of season 3, which is the best the show has been to this point.

Very little has actually happened this season. A bunch of transients from the Gov's former village living at the prison. An illness kills most of them. Carol is booted from the camp for killing two of them herself. The governor is back (!!!???). Still the same evil bastard, and now ready for a new war with the prison, same story as last season.

I might give them a pass if they resolve this story quickly and treat it as a reset to the horrible conclusion last season, so they show can actually move forward. The fact this first half was so aimless doesn't make me confident though.

In the clip during Talking Dead we already know
Spoiler:
that something happens to somebody from the prison camp before the Governor's big speech... since someone asks if they will realize that "some of their people are missing". So who is it, and are they killed or captured? We know he has Michonne and Herschell in his sights, but he's alone at the time and even if he shot them both dead I don't think that he would share that info with the group.

For those who are complaining about the incessant attacks on the prison ... listen to the lyrics. Try, try, try if you want ... you'll succeed at last. (I may have that slightly wrong ...)

Who cares

What would be the motivation to leave the most secure place they have found thus far? Without a promise of something better, I surely wouldn't leave.

I don't think it's that far fetched. When you have a guy that implements a sound plan and gets results, people follow.

I helped a friend move and while she had a lot of friends helping, she didn't have a lot of time. People were just kinda doing their own thing and socializing and no one took charge until I spoke up and gave everyone a purpose and a lead. And what was taking way too long was done in record time. None of this, "how is it going to all fit in the truck" shit. Just get it out here and I'll make it work, and I did. When it comes down to necessity and one has a strong enough voice about it.. people will follow. Neither Pete nor his brother had that.

Oh yeah, it could very well lead to nothing except to point out why Pete wasn't cut out to lead. I was thinking of a (very?) slow introduction to the hunters; where the hunters haven't resorted to it yet. The prison assault is probably going to last at least 2 episodes. They also introduced the herd a few episodes back and haven't done anything with them.

I think of the "leave the prison" complaints as the same as "leave the farm". Maybe as a viewer you don't like those locations, but as a survivor of the undead apocalypse, I'd sure as fuck stay as long as I could on an isolated farm where I can grow my own food or thick walls...fences and cells to keep the zombies out.
