was the explosion and the conway twitty part just a way to drag out the episode to completion? I wonder if the episode was like 20 mins done out of 22 mins before the strike and FOX said, well we need to stretch the episode 2 more mins.

There are scenes like that in pretty much every episode of FG though. They just like expanding random jokes like that. Don't get me wrong though, I love the show.

The explosion was a fine absurd extension of the typical "multi-shot" explosions seen in just about every 80's action movie and pretty much every other episode of "Walker, Texas Ranger".

Another scene I liked was when Meg's boyfriend gave her the Maroon 5 CD and told her that he bought her that because "you said you like terrible music".

The Jesus bit was awesome. I didn't even need to understand it.

The scene between Stewie and Jesus is a parody of a similar scene from the movie Witness starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis.

Scraped more than a fisherman's knuckle conjured such an image in my head rofl rofl

this was a pretty good episode

I thought the last "new" episode aired a few weeks ago. Is this one of those ones they did w/o Seth's input?

Jay G. 01-13-08 11:41 AM

I found a blog of one of the directors of the show that mentions he was in the process of directing "Road to Germany" right around when the strike started, and that episode is 7 down the line from what's already aired:
http://coltonspot.blogspot.com/

The blog also mentions that there was a table read for "Not All Dogs Go to Heaven," so that script was at least in the first-draft stage when the strike occurred. It's unknown how much voice acting had been recorded for that episode or others though.

They've already run out of episodes that Seth supervised right to the end of. It remains to be seen how many more episodes FOX can, or will, complete without his involvement.

wait a sec... Seth is the voice of practically everyone... how is he not involved?

The episodes have been recorded, just not the final touches/re-edits.

The way the show is produced goes like this: the episode is written, the initial voice-acting is recorded, the show then goes into animation where the script and dialogue are "tweaked" until right to the end of production.

With the last few episodes, FOX has had to rely on the initial script and recorded dialogue. There haven't been any of the additional tweaks since Seth hasn't been involved in the production since the beginning of the strike.

Another great episode. I was cracking up when Peter had Brian taped to his face as a replacement 'stache.

RichC2 01-13-08 08:38 PM

I thought this was one of the lamer episodes this season (which has been quite strong). Still, a few good lines here and there.

"In that scenario I'd rather be the parking space instead of the car"

"Yeah, I always figured that"rotfl

Snowmaker 01-13-08 09:07 PM

I didn't get a single laugh out of this episode. It just seemed way too off.

American Dad on the other hand was hilarious!

cam16 01-13-08 09:32 PM

Grape Soda Today. :p

It's funny because it's true.

RichC2 01-13-08 10:15 PM

Agreed, awesome American Dad.

bub2000 01-13-08 11:29 PM

Who was the cow? It sounded like the voice was recorded over the phone...

kvrdave 01-13-08 11:40 PM

Sounded a little like Ricardo Monteban.

Jay G. 01-13-08 11:46 PM

The cow was voiced by Ricardo Montalban.

Mikael79 01-13-08 11:49 PM

"Do not stand behind me, because I <i>will</i> get scared!"

The bit when old Stewie stares at old Connie for slurping her coffee - absolutely priceless.

By the way - the cow was voiced by Ricardo Montalban. (Too late, but that's what I get for doing laundry while writing a post.)

I usually have a sense of humor about this sort of stuff, but having a close family friend suffer through a stroke, along with similar paralysis, just a couple weeks ago, kinda took the funny out of this episode for me.

Lateralus 01-14-08 03:49 AM

The Monopoly guy getting raped in jail had me rotfl

boogieman03 01-14-08 08:15 AM

I laughed way too hard at the scene in the Italian deli.

 I actually laughed out loud at that one. It was a more subtle bit that I don't usually expect from Family Guy. Caught me off guard.
