Stewie's sarcastic "Really, you don't know why?" to Violet was hilarious:lol:

wergo 03-25-07 11:04 PM

"...and then there's Maude" was pretty funny. I wonder if that was added at the last minute after one of the manatees bought the DVD set.

redrum 03-25-07 11:27 PM

the puppies made me lol.

The Valeyard 03-26-07 12:17 AM

This was a great episode (IMO).

LorenzoL 03-26-07 05:06 AM

The whole static thing with Peter was great.

Yeah, for now. What happens when Drive premieres on Sundays?

That Maude skit was classic Family Guy...

Starts out, I give it a smile
Keeps going - I'm thinking "this is stupid"
Keeps going - "This is going on wayyy too long"
Still Going - now I'm laughing my ass off

das Monkey 03-26-07 09:06 AM

" ... and then there's Maude!" rotfl

das

I hope they don't move FG to Thursdays, then every show I watch will be on Thursday night!

GoldenJCJ 03-26-07 11:28 AM

I didn't really like the episode. I only laughed once at Brian and his black roommate watching the OJ verdict. Aside from that not much was funny.

The Maude scene and the giant wheelchair robot were painful to watch.

Noonan 03-26-07 11:34 AM

I wasn't a big fan of this one either. Best part for me was the beginning when Peter was going around shocking people and Quagmire's comments when he was taking the carpet out.

I laughed twice. I laughed at the OJ joke. It's not an original joke. It's not a creative joke, but, what the Family Guy writers lack in originality, they make up for by figuring out how to take a tired joke a step further than its obvious conclusion. I liked it when they pulled guns on each other.

I also laughed at the butt floss bit. Just a gross-out joke, but well executed, with the shadow and the expression on Stewie's face.

The Maude thing was kind of funny, but I didn't laugh. While I don't like Family Guy's penchant for padding a six minute storyline with 15 minutes of random asides, I kind of admire their commitment of a full two minutes of screen time to drag something like this out until it becomes funny...

If these gags weren't blatantly designed to save costs on animation by having the characters almost perfectly still, that is.

I'll have to vote not funny. It was amusing for the first 10 seconds while they just sat there, but we've seen the blank look from the Simpsons before.

It was just one of those things they saved until they found a place to stick in to fill up the show that was running short.

Slayer2005 03-27-07 01:00 AM

Hm, I thought it wasn't funny at first, but it became fairly amusing by the end simply because it was so dragged out. It goes through the "OMG, End this joke now." to "OMG. I can't believe they're still doing this joke.".

Chew 03-27-07 07:04 AM

The Maude thing was the first completely  I've had with this show in a long time for the very reason Slayer2005 says.

rfduncan 03-27-07 07:43 AM

I laughed a lot.

dadaluholla 03-27-07 08:27 AM

LOVED the Maude bit.
:)
It just kept going and going and going and going and when it finally got to "...AND THEN THERE'S MAUDE!" I actually wanted to do a little cheer. It was really fun. Almost Conway Twitty fun.

IDrinkMolson 03-27-07 11:09 AM

I thought it was a great episode.

Quagmire misunderstanding to come over to "tear out the carpet" was great.

Mercury&Solace 03-27-07 08:05 PM

Loved it!

Pulling out the carpet
Stewie and the Raggedy Anne "On The Rag" Doll
THe OJ thing

Awesome

milo bloom 03-27-07 10:26 PM

I totally didn't get the Maude joke. I used to plant myself in front of the TV for hours as a youngster, but for some reason there are massive gaps where shows like Maude and Small Wonder fell. Whenever someone mentions them, I just chuckle along because I've been told they were funny/horrifying, but I don't really get them.

And I thought the wheelchair/mecha bit was hilarious personally.
