Thought the show looked great in HD. It was definitely a different kind of episode. Barely any cutaway bits.

I loved some of the landscape shots... they really made it a point to emphasize the fact that it is in HD now.

I really thought Cleveland was going to return when everyone started pulling up to the mansion.

Love the whole late-80s, early-90s movie vibe they had going, with that score and all. It was like Clue meets Death Becomes Her.

I cracked up at the the Stephanie jokes, but I thought overall it was a mediocre episode.

The Intro song's style reminded me of Dennis The Menace's theme from the '93 movie but then changed into something like Seems like Old Times.

I think those shots were put in as a gag in and of themselves. MacFarlane had been very hesitant to move to HD, so I could see him using a huge budget on those extra CGI shots as a part of finally making the move.

Regardless of the real reason, the episode did look really good. A lot was due to the style they were copying, but this was clearly the best this show has ever looked.

As for the episode, I liked it. The stuff with Carl was pretty good, especially his little talk with the bear.

Stewie's last line was great.

Crap, my DVR got some kind of error and didn't record, so I couldn't watch it in HD tonight!

Had to watch it thru my PS3. Still looked decent though. Good episode quality-wise. Brought a little funny too.

Not the music, but the visuals of the opening reminded me of the opening of The Shining.

That was what I had assumed as well.

I liked it. Definitely the best season premiere this year for animation domination. It looked really good, and it was fun to see the characters used in a different way. I just wonder if what happened in this carries over into the regular series, or if this is just a one-off thing?

wasn't as bad as my error. for some reason DirecTV recorded an hour of simpsons, despite the fact that it was labeled Family Guy. :(
