She is the only thing keeping me tuned in to this show. And even then, I still watch with the sound off and fast forward for the eye candy.

I just got around to watching this.
So Quinn, doesn't allow wireless on his island. So Skye's job is to go in with a wireless device, so that they can "trace the DHCP server" (actually spoken aloud by Fitz). Wait, what? No wifi, no connectivity, no DHCP server. That took me out of the show. Also, I learned that Interstate 74 has absolutely NO TRAFFIC on it, apparently for hours at a time.
Echoing what most others have said, this one was a slight improvement over the last, but still had me checking my watch and I found my mind drifting. And that opening really reminded me of the MST3K episode "Riding with Death". "Sam...my patent papers are wondering why we stopped."

this episode was better than the previous two. but then again, that's like saying gonorrhea is better than syphilis.

You know something that really makes me wonder. If they didn't stop developing the Incredible Hulk TV series idea to put this on, how would that series be received? Makes me wonder.
And on another note, how on earth does this show always get 6 pages of responses and yet Arrow which is such a better show it's not even funny barely get two pages?

I like the show but I would like to see more stuff referencing the Marvel Universe in general. They did that with Franklin Hall knowing who he becomes later. For the most part it seems like this show could take place in any world.
They need some other groups on the show like Hydra,AIM,,Roxxon,Secret Empire or Department H.
How about bringing in some senior S.H.I.E.L.D agents from time to time like Gabe Jones or Clay Quartermain.

I think there is a gross overestimation of Whedon's draw and even his participation on the show. I'm sure he as much to do with the show as JJ Abrams had on Lost. i.e. hands off after the pilot.
As far as Whedon being some viewer magnet, his previous shows beg to differ.

Oh, I agree he isn't doing much on the show. I also agree the ratings aren't driven by him. I do think traffic on this forum and others has something to do with his name being attached.

In the first episode when Agent Ward first meets Fitz-Simmons, the woman scientist asks Ward if he is ready for this journey into mystery. Journey into Mystery is a Marvel comic that was originally a sci-fi anthology but became Thor's book later.
Also in the first episode Skye says a modified version of Uncle Ben's "With great power comes great responsibility."
Lola, Coulson's flying car, people probably thought was ripping off Back to the Future, but S.H.I.E.L.D. flying cars exist in the comics.
I have also heard the number 616 referenced a few times on the show. 616 is the name of the primary continuity in the Marvel multiverse.

There have been several subtle references to Marvel Comics besides Franklin Hall as Gravitron.

The Marvel Universe has many characters that aren't on other licensed films and would be nice to get references to and incorporated into the MCU, no matter how obscure they are. That they wish to concentrate on powerful 'artifacts' or the super powered just makes it lame version of MiB.

I'd guess it's a combination of the affiliate and DTV. I would think everyone who has your affiliate with DTV probably has the issue.

I don't think nods to comic book titles and quotes and shit like that are what he was looking for...

The story would make alot more sense to me if the artifacts turned out to stuff like cosmic cubes, infinity gems, quantum bands or they stumble across a Ultimate Nullifier or hell even an old batch of Adhesive X.
The episode with they guy with centipede thing on his arm could have ended with them sending him to see a therapist and it turns out to be Karla Sofen.
There's all kinds of cool stuff they can do. Have them get reports of all kinds of people planes and boats going missing in the Florida Everglades like its the Bermuda Triangle. They go to investigate and you bring Man-Thing and the "Nexus of all Realities" into the mix.
With the"Rising Tide" subplot and Skye's hacking background you could bring in Ghost the corporate terrorist from the Iron Man and Thunderbolts comics as recurring enemy.
Or as the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D are trying to do their thing and thinking they have carte blanche to operate with impunity some dickhead by the name of Henry Peter Gyrich shows up and they find out they aren't the only ones with alot pull.
You can have them bring up some nosey reporter by the name of Ben Urich who's starting to become a pain in the ass or have Coulson wonder aloud "How is the Daily Bugle(if they can use that name) or Front Line getting all these photos of superpowered beings? They're a better source of intel then our own agents."
Have some chatter in the background about ordering some helicarrier parts from Wakanda. I want more things to make me feel like this IS the Marvel Universe.
In a earlier post someone mentioned Coulson wearing a suit on a mission. I think thats his "thing" he ALWAYS wears a suit in the comics.
Of course they're only 3 episodes in. I guess we'll have to wait to see if they open up the playbook.
Another thing about Coulson and comments from other characters about him is he a

I'm almost positive they aren't allowed to use things like the Ultimate Nullifier since it is mostly associated with the Fantastic Four. Apparently this series has a thick book of specific Marvel properties they can't use or reference since other studios own the film/television rights.
I would like to see a mention of the West Coast Avengers, even as a joke.

Oh, you want the Ultimate Nullifier? Sure, but it means when we make Fantastic For: Fantastic Fore our golf themed sequel we get to have a scene where the Human Torch bounces the ball off of Captain America's shield to sink the putt.
