I enjoyed what I saw but I guess I just need to embrace that this is who he's been for awhile now and have fun with it.

I really didn't have as much of a problem as I expected to honestly. I mean there were a few times where I didn't fully catch what he said but overall I understood him mostly. Obviously he's aged and the Parkinson's has taken it's toll but overall I still thought he looked and sounded pretty good. Maybe some of that has to do with how medicated he was while filming though too I guess.

I actually liked the pilot better than the 2nd episode. Anyway, I'll keep watching before I write it off. Isnt fair to dismiss a show after only a couple of episodes, especially when its MJF

Michael J. Fox has a little more credibility than a bunch of unknowns/barely knowns.

Katie Finneran has gotten much more attractive since Wonderfalls.

To me the first episode seemed forced with some of the Parkinson's stuff and the show just fell kind of flat to me. I think the pacing of the second episode was better and the jokes were a bit better but there's still a lot of room for improvement. Not a big fan of the interview type stuff either but whatever I guess.

I'm not going to watch it. Looks more like one of those sappy human interest pieces they play during the Olympics than a sitcom. Not down for his illness being exploited while they struggle to make it seem like they aren't and trying to have it be uplifting.

I liked the first episode more than the second. The second had a good laugh when Fox was dreaming, but that's about it. Got it on the rerun on Friday. I love MJF and the actress who plays his wife is funny and cute. I understand why they are doing the interviews on camera, but I'm just not a fan of it anymore. I'll catch it on On Demand, but that's probably it.

I liked both episodes overall, but I also feel the whole "lesbian angle" wasn't needed at all. I did like the comment made to Mike's daughter by her brother, though: "Why not just have friends because they like you?"

My mom has it as well and she was waiting to see how they make Parkinson's funny.

The budget for that documentary would be through the roof for small returns.)

Modern Family does it for no apparent reason. Parks and Rec does it for no apparent reason. Now MJF Show.

It's a concept that needs to go away. It's like the Matrix style effects for TV. Everybody has to copy it but nobody seems to understand what the original purpose was for and it gets old. Quick.

Agreed

I haven't watched the two episodes yet, but I do find it somewhat disappointing that they're using the interview gimmick too. It seems like a cop out to write that format instead of dialogue which would accomplish the same.

To be fair, there's a plot based reason for the interviews, although it's obvious they came up with that as an excuse to use it.

Still, I enjoyed both episodes enough to stick with it. Fox is still charming as hell and it's fun to see Betsy Brandt getting to do some MUCH lighter stuff. She's got pretty good comedic chops.

Same here. I thought the pilot was at least decent, but thought the second episode was pretty bad. I'll give it one more episode.

I'm in the opposite camp. I thought the pilot was just ok, but the second show gave me the feeling it could last a bit longer.

Still, it's funny, I thought The Crazy Ones would be lame and this one great--and I think the opposite is true now having seen both.

We just saw this tonite. At the end my wife said "this won't last long". We didn't think it was very good at all. Don't think we laughed once.

It got a guaranteed 22 episode commitment. It will be around for the long haul.

I thought the interview format had more to do with the daughter's video project. Guess if it carried over to the second episode that won't be the case.

I agree, it was really uncomfortable watching MJF struggling. And the fact that they were using jokes they could've pulled from message boards.

Not taking his meds for a while so his wife wouldn't have to do all the work during sex...

Trying to open the jar...

The rolling chair, and plenty of others I can't think of.

My father-in-law had Parkinson's, and I didn't have any problem that I can recall understanding the dialogue. But I agree it just wasn't funny.

MJF is very appealing to me, and I'm interested in how they treat the PD angle, so I'll keep watching for a while. I kinda felt like the character's public who were cheering him for just being himself.

I thought both episodes were painfully unfunny. The show has no teeth at all, outside of Betsy Brandt's sex joke about not having to do all the work herself. There are too many kids that I don't give a shit about (read: all of them), and the sister is even worse. Make the show about Mike, his wife, and returning to work. Everything else is dead weight. And then remember to also make it funny.

Already dropped it from my lineup.

We didn't laugh once. Couldn't understand 3/4's of MJF's dialogue.

This certainly won't last long. Too bad.

Not true at all. All it has to do is get a 2.0 rating (I think in the 18-40whatever target) and it will last. That's what NBC just said.

Me too. Just went through the weeks' DVR and not even bothering. If I start hearing some good things I may start up again
