I was too distracted by the psychologist/profiler guy, man that guy was weird. All the other shrink types they've had on L&O seemed pretty down to earth, but this guy seemed to act like he was some kind of zen master or something.

Man, I really like this show's dark themes! Chad Lowe gave such a disturbing performance, and it was good to see Margot Kidder again! Everyone seems to think "SVU" doesn't live up to the quality of "L&O", but I love them both!

i liked it, but i can't help as to wonder why the FBI profiler guy was even there. I mean they didn't even really explain his presence. It was kind of out of the blue.

It was a good show but I think an extremely unlikely scenario. Syphilis has to get to the third stage which I'm sure is very rare today and even then the character's behaviour is probably a very extreme case. As I said it was a good show but I had to suspend my disbelief quite a bit on several points including what the insurance company did.
I don't know what the law is today in New York state but when I got married nearly 28 years ago in Wisconsin we had to be tested for syphilis before getting a marriage license.

As always, this show has already aired, so read at your own risk.
Personally, I thought this one was a little overblown. The regular Law & Order premiere did the twists and turns storyline already, so this one seemed a little contrived. I like the fact that they took on that issue, and it was interesting enough, but for some reason it didn't work for me. Law & Order is still the best TV franchise of the past decade, so I'm certainly not abandoning the show, but I did feel a bit disappointed.

das, I agree it could have been better. In a way it was overblown as you say especially with the
But in the way it handled the main issue, I think it was very mild. I think we did not get that much about the issue because they didn't want to give away the "secret" until near the end. But then it was strange that the secret was given away in the TV listings.
I don't think it was a great show. But it was great they took on the issue.
Except for the fine HBO movie Indictment (which was about a slightly different but related issue), television and the movies have not seemed eager to do entertainment stories about this.

Spoilers to follow ... I think that's a given ...
mike, no, but he (not the officer, but the killer) wanted to screw with her mind. Sure, she had no other option, but that's a sh!tty thing to have to live with.
I liked this episode. It was a little "over the top" but for the most part, it was really good.

I, too, thought it was a very good episode, but I like just about any Law and Order show (haven't checked out the new one, Criminal Intent yet, will tomorrow).
Oh on a side note, where has Angie Harmon gone?

I finally got around ot seeing this episode off my Tivo today. Great, great episode. I am wondering if they are going to continue or explain the tension that Olivia is having with her partner. She really went off in this episode.

L&o: Svu (04/05)
Funniest line I've heard in a long time.
Ice-T was talking about a shoplifter and said "She was caught pulling a Wynnona"

It did not refer to Ashley's sister (who is Wynonna).

Poor Winona Rider....You do a little shopping a next
your being referenced on a Crime drama.
I remember when Lewinsky term was used on a tv series.
Anyways. Does every series have to out do each other
on how they solve the crime. A broken beer bottle
and how it was used to solve the crime.
Seemed like another Crime Scene Investigation series.
I prefer the police methods of rounding up the usual suspects
and slapping them around, plea bargaining them down
and then the end credits roll.

L&o Svu 10/18
cool. they mentioned my hometown. Jamestown NY
a few years ago a drugy/scum/drug dealer from NY city came to town to set up shop in the relatively untouched small town of Jamestown. He had AIDS and was sleeping with a lot of people
Montel Williams had an episode on it and some loser from my highschool was sitting in the front row and got his face on tv

Interesting episode. Michael Gross was great IMO and this is the second L&O episode he's done playing a total psycho. Some of the looks and comments Ice-T gave the call girl were classic.
