Yeah it was. This thread is dated in October, which through me off. Like I said, he could have searched for the season 14 SVU thread.

Re: Law and Order: SVU -- Season 14 -- Wednesdays (NBC)

I moved this from a previous post. Didn't know there was a separate thread for SVU. This concerns the Scott Bakula episode from 11/14/12.

This is the first time I checked out the additional footage NBC promotes during the episodes. This brings "closure" not given in the episode as aired. The episode is titled "Vanity's Bonfire", but the deleted footage has its own title "Everything In Its Right Place":

And the entire episode is also available on line:

Synopsis:

IN THE SHOCKING SEASON FINALE, A MYSTERIOUS CRIMINAL SETS OFF A DANGEROUS CHAIN OF EVENTS. GUEST STARRING PABLO SCHREIBER AND LAUREN AMBROSE. With no way to discover the suspect's true identity, he masterfully outplays them at every turn. A shocking theory comes to light, and as Barba's trial comes to a close, the situation rapidly escalates and Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is put into mortal danger. Also starring Ice-T (Detective Odafin Tutuola), Dann Florek (Captain Donald Cragen), Danny Pino (Detective Nick Amaro), Dean Winters (Brian Cassidy) and Tamara Tunie (M.E. Melinda Warner).

Episode 24 of 24

There is a spoiler circulating that:

Spoiler:
Olivia gets shot in the finale. Mariska hasn't signed a new contract yet, so it's 50/50 that she will return for season 15. I'm sure she will be back. Killing Olivia off will permanently kill the show.

Sorry. My bad. It's only 1 hour tonight. Got things mixed up with another show.

Wish it had been 2 hours!

Great ep, excellent writing and good to see Lauren Ambrose show off her 'subtle' and 'nuanced' acting skills.

Just when you think you've seen every possible storyline combination involving cops and juries and perps who know how to work the system, someone comes up with a new one that has me stumped.

No clue on what this guy's angle is or where this is going.

Benson has already had a 'raped' storyline back around Season 5 or 6 and was nearly raped again a few seasons back the season Elliott left but I suppose its easy to believe a detective as beautiful as her getting raped a few times in her career...

I don't normally watch SVU but my wife does, and this episode really sucked me in. I'll probably stick around to see how it resolves next season, then continue to not watch it after that. Just not a fan of procedurals.

Law and Order: SVU (NBC) -- Series Thread

Created by Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," now in its 17th season, is the longest-running primetime drama currently on television. This hard-hitting and emotional series from NBC's "Law & Order" brand chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes.

As acting commander of the SVU, Sergeant Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is a seasoned veteran of the unit who has seen it all. She leads with empathy and professionalism, all the while dealing with her difficult past as a product of rape, and her future as mother to a young child, both of which influence the way she relates to each victim in need of help.

Hargitay garnered eight Emmy nominations for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Olivia Benson, and won the 2006 Emmy for that category. She has received six SAG nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, two Golden Globe nominations for Lead Actress in a Drama Series, winning the award in 2005, and has won three Gracie Allen Awards for Outstanding Female Lead in 2004, 2009 and 2014. In 2013, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice T) adds a unique sense of humor and undercover investigative experience, making him a formidable match for any partner. Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) has earned her place as an integral part of the team while facing head-on the emotional toll it takes to work SVU, and Detective Dominick "Sonny" Carisi (Peter Scanavino) brings a fresh outlook and distinctive style of investigation to the squad. Assistant District Attorney Rafael Barba (Raśl Esparza) seeks justice for SVU's victims and survivors with precision and a passion to win.

"SVU" is frequently acknowledged for its guest players, with Emmy wins for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Ann-Margret (2010), Ellen Burstyn (2009), Cynthia Nixon (2008), Leslie Caron (2007) and Amanda Plummer (2005), and nominations for such renowned talent as Brenda Blethyn, Carol Burnett, Robin Williams, Marcia Gay Harden, Angela Lansbury, Marlee Matlin, Mare Winningham, Barbara Barrie, Martha Plimpton, Jane Alexander and Tracy Pollan.

In 2015, "SVU" won the Imagen Foundation Award for Best Primetime Program, recognizing the positive portrayal of Latinos in media. The series was honored with the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2012, along with Ice T for Outstanding Actor (2002) and Delroy Lindo for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (2010). Fourteen episodes of "SVU" were nominated for the Prism Award and six have won, recognizing their accurate depiction of substance abuse and mental illness. Three episodes have been nominated by the GLAAD Media Awards for outstanding representation of the LGBT community, and the show was honored with 10 Edgar Allan Poe award nominations and two wins for Best Television episode.

The "Law & Order" brand has tremendous global appeal and to date, "SVU" has been sold to over 250 territories around the world.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Television. Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer; Warren Leight, Julie Martin, Jonathan Starch, Peter Jankowski and Arthur Forney are executive producers.

Wow...that was a bit of a SNOOZER.

I'll have to rewatch it since I ended up turning it off and going to bed. My Wife could barely make it 30min in.

It started out decent then got really slow after certain events.

Re: Law and Order: SVU (NBC) -- Series Thread

The first episode was pretty good. Interesting move to basically make Benson a killer (though a justified one). I hope they get away from the flashbacks soon, as I thought it was overused in the second hour. It would be nice to see her dealing with the fallout though.

The second episode was a bit lackluster. The Cleveland kidnapper given the SVU twist was kind of odd.

But next week we get Paula Deen killing Trayvon Martin! Oh boy!

Re: Law and Order: SVU (NBC) -- Series Thread

I wasn't expecting them to bust out the "ripped-from-the-headlines" case of the Ohio kidnappings so soon, since they were teasing the premiere as the resolution to the cliffhanger. I liked that it was resolved, but I wasn't expecting it to delve in to a regular episode since this was considered a two-parter. Nothing about it other than her PTSD from the incident was connected to the actual following case and it's something they could've put anywhere in the season since I'm sure it will be constantly referenced.

The past few seasons have felt heavy on takes of more high-profile cases. I guess they need to do that to keep interest in a show entering its 15th season. It brought in almost 10M viewers this past week so they must be doing something right.

ADA Barber is a regular? Ok, can we please somehow get an appearance from Sam Watterston again. I assume Jack is still the main DA for the city.

wonder how many episodes we're going to be stuck with emotional baggage benson?
and to top it off she failed to kill the guy so he'll probably be back in an episode when he goes for sentencing or appeal or something

Re: Law and Order: SVU (NBC) -- Series Thread

This dude killed, raped, and tortured how many people and one of them was a cop? Yeah any attempt at an appeal or parole will get laughed at. The emo Benson will and should last for awhile: that's a lot of trauma to work though. I'm kinda glad Benson didn't kill the guy even though he deserved to go down and she could have gotten away with it, killing him doesn't seem to be consistent with the character.

Re: Law and Order: SVU (NBC) -- Series Thread

it's a lot of trauma and from a realism standpoint she should be broken for a long time
but I don't want to watch that

I know Richard Belzer has been MIA for a few episodes but wow that announcement came out of nowhere. Hopefully Munch gets some kind of decent sendoff other than, well, he put in his papers. Now I want to go watch my Homicide box set to relive the glory days of Munch.
