The original L&O has pretty much run it's course.. nothing new it can bring to the table. SVU has a few more years before they run out of ideas... there are always more freaks out there to 'rip from the headlines'

Law & Order: SVU 11/23

I didn't realize tonight was a gimmick ending with the voting for the ending. Needless to say the ending got a big WTF from me when the screen went black before they read the verdict

Solid episode all around. I was waiting for Elliot to bitchslap her attorney in Cragen's office.

Yeah, that was a great episode ... again. Even though I know it's the best of the franchise right now, I'm still amazed at how great this season has been.

The gimmick ending was lame, though.

NBC could have warned us about the gimmick ending. The not giving us an ending would be cool but I'm not loving the voting part partically because I can't figure out what was going on with that case.

Is it me or is this show just getting better with every episode? How many spin-offs have there been that have just run circles around the original?

Poor Elliot... he's got "Jack Malone" syndrome.

A mod should really turn this into a poll.

My vote would be 'Not Guilty'... but I can't really say why. I know that we aren't privy to everything that the jury, so based on what they 'presented', I think the chick is a psychopath, but the professor is just a snake.

OT (sort of) what other shows have pulled this 'you choose the ending' stuff?

I remember when The A-Team did it back in the day, when we got to choose if this guy died or not, but that voting was done during the episode and the end was played accordingly.

93. Family Reunion

gs: Jeff Corey (A.J. Bancroft) Terri Treas (the fake Ellen Bancroft) Beau Billingslea (Owens) Anna Rapagna (Kendall) Claire Kirkconnell (Ellen Bancroft) John Carter (Jacob Edwards) Lou Felder (Unknown) Cory McClendon (Sister Margaret) Joe Faust (Captain)

A former political adviser offers to trade a diary for a reunion with his daughter- who Face is hitting on, but Murdock learns that the man may be Face's father and the daughter Face's sister.

b: 14-Nov-1986 pc: 1514 w: Steven L. Sears d: James Darren

NOTE: The audience chose the ending through a telephone call-in vote.

If I remember correctly, he died.

Current voting results on NBC.com

Was the professor (Billy Campbell) guilty or innocent?

Guilty 17%

Innocent 66%

Need more evidence 17%

WTF? I didn't check out the poll until I saw your post, but the options are Guilty and Innocent? That's stupid. I'd vote Not Guilty. Just the accusation of rape can ruin someone's life. If you want me to send someone to prison on top of that, you need to convince me he really did it. She didn't do that. Of course, how much of that the jury would know (and what they'd know that we didn't know) would be the real issue, but we can only go with what the writers and editor showed us, and on that, I'd vote Not Guilty. But I wouldn't vote Innocent.

I was disappointed when I saw the choices as well. It simply should've been "guilty" or "not guilty," just like a jury. I voted "need more evidence" which IMO is a vote for not guilty because there wasn't proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Shannyn Sossamon... she was the princess opposite Heath Ledger in A Knight's Tale.

Great episode, but I didn't see the twist coming. I think that he was not guilty, personally.

So how do we find out what happens? Is it mentioned next week at all?

The ending annoyed me. I was at a friend's palce, and was like "I'll leave once I find out if she's lying or not." Yeah so...then the ending.

Nonetheless, if I were on the jury it'd be a definite not guilty. While in no way could I ascertain taht he's innocent, guilt is predicated upon "beyond a reasonable doubt" and her case did not provide that.

The website

Also when they did this with CI, they played the ending that was voted for when that episode was aired on USA. This episode would air on USA Dec 5th at 11EST

Interesting tidbit in TV Guide about Law and Order:SVU cameo...

So they say in an upcoming episode
Spoiler:
Stephanie March is returning as Alex Cabot. Apparently we find out what she's been doing in the Witness Protection Program since her departure from the show.

Sounds freakin' sweet!

Interesting...Now if I could just figure out how the Asian Psychiatrist was brought back to life then all my questions would be answered.

When was he killed? I thought he was just knocked senseless (if you're talking about the episode where he and Stabler were locked up in the prison cell with an inmate)

Was he? I thought he was killed. I admit I watch the show through repeats, but I really thought he was dead, because didnt he leave the show, then re-appear this season? If not, then I was really confused there.

And I won't swear to it, but I think I remember hearing he was going to be out a few episodes for sure doing a Boardway play or something (unless I'm confusing that with the guy from L&O original that will be out doing a movie based on a Broadway play....which is always possible...)
