The Vampire Diaries definitely knows how to keep it moving. I am continually amazed how the wrap up storylines quickly that other shows would drag out for years and years.

Agreed. The camera work, the score, the episodes really moved along. It always felt like so much was going on, the show just wouldn't slow down. It was amazing, amazing TV. I miss ER very much.

Alias was also extremely fast paced. You have to look back at that show more in 'phases' than in seasons because it changed it's focus about three times a year.

I got annoyed and moved on after the second season. The Vampire Diaries never had an episode where the gang simply went out on the town, bad guy comes along, destroy him, we survived, end credits. I don't want this all the time, just once in a while! I was fed up with the constant twists and turns, and every episode having some kind of extra dramatic SHOCK value.
