No, Homeland is right on par with 24. Crappy subplots with family members? Check check and check.

Helll, even ER was generally a fast paced show.

I wouldn't say it has as steady a fast pace, but I am as riveted with Breaking Bad as I was 24. It keeps your heart pumping even in the slower but emotionally charged scenes, and it's full of "Oh crap!" moments, especially at each episode end.

This may not be what you meant, but I remember the 70s series Soap moving through plotlines fairly quickly.

One that comes to mind for me is SouthLAnd. We are on the final season, and I must say it's one of the fasted paced shows I have ever seen.

The wife and I only started watching it a couple of months ago and probably would have never watched it had it not been for the high praise it received here on dvdtalk.

I just started watching True Blood (on season 6 now). I'm amazed how quickly time takes place. It's pretty absurd. Characters act like things took place so long ago, but really it might have only been a day or 2.
I'll go ahead and spoiler the general time frame.

My kid just watched the first season of 24, and when we were talking about going on to season 2, complained about the "slow pace" of the show. Not referring to the action as much as the fact that people kept getting captured at the end of every episode and didn't seem to be making much progress. :)

Homeland? HOMELAND? I know it's blasphemous but I found the first season so boring I never even finished it. Homeland is the opposite of fast pace and doesn't even belong in the same sentence as 24.

I'm willing to concede that fact, but this thread is about pacing and Homeland was most certainly not fast paced.
