My theory (which will probably not happen) is that Walt sees the massacre as the opportunity to fake his own death and goes into hiding.

Well, you're half right. He went into hiding, but said he still had more things to do. So no he didn't "fake" his own death.

I'm still trying to get my head around Walt's psycho rationalization when he was telling uncle Jack that Jesse was "family" and that he didn't want there to be any suffering or torture before he blew his brains out. If that's not evil, then what is?
