Family Guy / Simpsons cross over episode in 2014
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/278...-come-together
I'll be interested to see how this turns out.
Fox is set to produce "The Simpsons Guy," a crossover episode of "Family Guy" that will see "The Simpsons" guest starring on the rival animated series.
In the episode, the Griffins travel to Springfield, where they’ll encounter the Simpsons characters. The episode is scheduled to air Fall 2014.
Peter (Seth MacFarlane) and Homer (Dan Castellaneta) will bond, Stewie (MacFarlane) will be taken with the pranks that Bart (Nancy Cartwright) gets up to, Lisa (Yeardley Smith) will take Meg (Mila Kunis) under her wing, and Lois (Alex Borstein) and Marge (Julie Kavner) will ditch housework together. Hank Azaria will also lend his voice to some characters.

Interesting that Seth MacFarlane would agree to this considering that The Simpsons outright accused him of plagiarism on their show.

Another crossover? Maybe it'll be a little more tasteful.

Interested to see this sort of. I'm not the biggest fan of newer Family Guy but it has moments and I still love The Simpsons.

Surprised Groening would agree, hasn't he been pretty down on FG in the past?

does he even have any control over the show anymore? i thought he was basically an exec. producer in name only at this point.

Well ,then you have nothing to worry about since it's going to be an episode of Family Guy.
If their animation is the same as its been in the past with prior Simpsons characters (the video clip that was posted above along with Homer's cameo in an episode last year), then it may be a difficult watch for a full episode. They feel cheapened with they MacFarlane-ize them while trying to maintain their traditional look.
My first post was in jest, but Groening isn't involved in the capacity to put his foot down. He didn't even have enough say back in the early 90s to nix Season 6's "A Star Is Burns" (although he had his name removed from the episode entirely), which he was vocally against at the time (even though the crossover was with The Critic, a show that had former Simpsons writing staff and was created by James L. Brooks - a guy who helped get The Simpsons on TV).
The only animators that are "down" on Family Guy are Trey Parker & Matt Stone, which they of course lampooned a few years ago.

Update! Five minutes of footage from Simpsons/Family Guy Crossover:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/07/26/si...episode-video/
Have to go to the link above to watch it, but it includes a good bit of material from the episode. I wasn't sure about this when it was first announced, but that footage is very promising and I'm really looking forward to this now. I like the self-references and parodies they showed in the footage and as long as they keep it light and tongue-in-cheek it should be a lot of fun. The animation looks great as well. There's also cameos from Bob Belcher and Cleveland Brown (seen in the above footage), but no news of Stan Smith showing up.
Set to air in September. Also looking forward to the long-awaited Simpsons/Futurama crossover that I think is going to air in November.

I haven't watched either show in a few years, but I will definitely check this out.
Loved what Stewie said to Moe on the prank call.

Oh, that's a brilliant amalgamation of both shows showing off both their strengths and contrasting what makes them different. I'm stoked.
