Curious as to what caused him to relapse.

Not that I've ever had experience with drugs, but my guess would be just being in the environment he was in...fame, some degree of fortune, access to pretty much whatever he wants...played a big factor. Plus, I would imagine that heroin is the type of drug that once it gets hold of you, no amount of rehab is going to completely eliminate the urge to jump back in, without a lot of constant support.

Damn, just thinking of him in a hotel room, by himself, pounding booze and shooting heroin is so depressing.

You see someone who has seemingly everything to live for and you wonder what sets them off the deep end. You have to wonder if he wanted to die that night.

Has there been a report of that? I read the article like he went out, partied, came home and OD'ed.

^I haven't read much about this. I don't really even know who the guy is. All I read was that he found dead alone in his hotel room. So I don't know. I guess I shouldn't have assumed.

Still.. depressing.

Yeah, you just don't fuck with heroin. Do coke, you're usually alright as long as you don't play a basketball game while on it. Molly/X will burn holes in your brain, Marijuana is innocuous. But heroin is like asking for insta-death, at least with Oxycontin you'll just die in your sleep. The kid had money so I'm assuming he stayed away from the crack and meth.

Yeah, it sucks to be famous and hooking up with Lea Michele.

One thing that is common in these situations is whenever a newly recovered addict starts taking the drugs again, they try to take what they were on at the height of their addiction. Problem is, taking that amount at this point will kill them. That's most likely what happened.

For every hot chick out there there is a boyfriend tired of banging his hot girlfriend.

Why can't they actually do a story about his character dying of a drug overdose?

Because Finn wasn't a drug addict. And IMO just randomly writing in that he was a secret drug addict wouldn't make any sense. His character for all intents and purposes was a relatively normal Midwestern kid.

Re: Sources: Cory Monteith of Glee found dead of drug OD

I don't think that matters.

Anyone can die from a drug overdose, even if they were just a regular old Midwestern kid
who never used drugs before.

Nah, who would believe Finn could be killed as a result of a car accident?

He was cremated today. Apparently his parents are divorced and his Dad wasn't invited to the funeral. That's messed up.

That is messed up to not even invite the dad. Family must have had real issues.

I have no idea where I read this and I can't find a link now, so take it with a grain of salt. That said, from what I remember reading, it isn't just that Cory's mom and dad were divorced, it's that Cory was "estranged" from his dad, and hadn't communicated with him in 15-17 years before they started talking again (infrequently, apparently) in 2009. They reportedly weren't close. I think the divorce may have happened when Cory was 7.

It's hard to know what goes on behind closed doors, but it certainly seems he should have been given the opportunity to say goodbye. Of course his mom might have been thinking (or not thinking), "Oh now you want to show up? Where were you when he was young and struggling with drugs? Where have you been during all the challenges of his life? Screw you." Or maybe she was just so thrown she didn't even consider a guy who has basically been out of the picture anyway. Who can say?

Are people supposed to be invited to funerals? Don't you just announce it and people show up if they want?

Its not that he wasn't invited, he wasn't told it was happening that soon.

Ryan Murphy finally spoke.

They will resume filming in late August. They're going to film 3 episodes (2 were already written and one will deal with Finn's death) and then they will take a production break. The season will premiere September 26th.

Quite possible they may have a shorter season according to Murphy in that article. He doesn't know yet.

Something from midseason will probably have to be moved up since Glee is going on hiatus after 3 episodes.

I haven't followed the show in a while, but I'll probably check out these episodes to see how they deal with the loss. I'm also curious to see if Lea comes back, as a lot of people are speculating she may not. Personally, I just can't imagine them asking her to relive that pain onscreen.

I read she wants to come back to be with her TV family.
