Now. Someone's death making them a household name isn't the same as them being a household name while they were alive. Glee fans knew who he was.

I knew it was drugs the minute I found out about it. I watched and thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Glee...could only make it through 1/2 the third season. If they were to truly get married in 2 weeks, that just makes it all a little more sad.

On the radio this morning, one of the local DJs said, "There were probably 8 other ODs that same night just a couple blocks down from that hotel on Hastings."
Tasteless... sure... but yeah. That comment was in response to people saying that this particular death should be reason to "do something" about drug abuse.

Definitely sad news. I was not a fan of Glee nor of him, but more due to lack of familiarity. I saw a photo of him recently and while he was five years younger than I he looked about my age. Drugs must have done a number on him. If he had lived the writers would have had to do something to explain why one year out of H.S. he already looked like he was in his late thirties .

I have heard conflicting reports as to his relationship with Michele at the time. I first heard that they might have actually split a couple of weeks ago, or put their relationship on hiatus. They were apparently apart during the 4th of July weekend, but that could be for a number of reasons. If they were two weeks away from marriage, that's a real kick.
This will also make watching any love song scenes with Finn and Rachel close to unwatchable in repeats.

So he passed away at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. Not to say this is a conspiracy, but it is.

The problem with getting started on drugs when you're young and dumb is you won't remain young and dumb but getting away from those things is difficult as hell.

fwiw, he had already severely damaged his internal organs by that point.

Still with people like Cory Monteith and Ryan Davis (videogame writer) just dropping dead in their early to mid 30s, it doesn't make me feel too good since I'm now in that range.

Yeah, I nearly died at 27 from a stroke. What I learned is that when you show up all glassy eyed and confused at the hospital at 27, you're going to be subjected to a lot of drug tests before they start looking at options like a stroke.
