It was Phantom Menace. It was playing at a dollar theater. The kids even said it was a little old.

I took this as more of a "Lost" homage than a superhero story.

The origin of "Pop pop!" made me LOL.

I know they have graduations in the winter and Jeff was planning on graduating in the winter, but that wasn't the case for everyone else. I get that the episodes have been shuffled around this season and I'm probably just thinking about these things too much, but it still seems really weird.
Perhaps they shuffled episodes around to spread out the few they had in the can before Chevy left the show.

Aside from Parks, I can see NBC shitcanning everything else. A 1.2 isn;t very good, but Sony would give them the show at this point for another dozen episodes.

Go On is still 3 Seasons away from Syndication was hitting ratings on par or lower than Community. Whitney is 2 Seasons away as well.

They have to renew something besides Parks to have a credible two hour Thursday block (or on some other day). I have figured it would be Go On, but it's very true that Sony might give more Community away so cheaply that it could go that way instead. It could also come down to some bundling with a different show.

I have no idea how development has gone for NBC or whether they'd renew more than just two comedies.

I don't think that's the case. Up through Intro to Knots (the Christmas episode), the timing was totally consistent with what would be the fall semester (even though episodes were moved around within that block). Jeff had made it clear in the first episode this season that all he needed was this one history class and he could graduate early (winter graduation).

Basic Human Anatomy came next and the group was worried about their final projects which would make sense because the semester should be ending right around Christmas. However, Troy and Britta's anniversary of their first date (which was what the whole episode was about) took place in the spring last year. Likewise, Heroic Origins, which had the group preparing for their history final, also had Chang referencing the anniversary of his regime at Greendale being toppled, which obviously took place at the end of last season, thus in the spring.

The only way it makes sense is that this history class somehow went from a 1 semester class to a two semester class and that most of the spring semester was completely skipped over in the timeline. But that doesn't really make sense in terms of the story because Jeff's number one concern was to graduate early and his attitude towards their history assignments wouldn't suggest that anything had changed.

Before anyone gets worked up about all of this and labels me a whiny, nit picky, super geek, I totally understand that the 13 episode season completely wrecks the 1 season = 1 school year dynamic and that the uncertainty of the show's future as well as the departure of Chevy Chase probably meant that the back half of the season's production was pretty chaotic. I also acknowledge that none of this really matters. It's just something that I noticed and figured I'd share with the board.

They don't have to. ABC launched a whole 2 hour block a few Seasons ago and 3 out of the 4 shows are still on the air.

Was that Chevy or a body double for Pierce's cameo at the end?
