Well, keep in mind that KSL TV is in Salt Lake City, which has a large Mormon population, and that the station itself is owned by the for-profit arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This station has a history of not airing what it considers risque or controversial shows, sometimes preemptively. This station doesn't even air Saturday Night Live. So the station may have decided to stop airing the show even with zero viewer complaints.

Well, freedom of expression does swing both ways. In this case, should a NBC affiliate be forced to air a show it finds objectionable? Since KSL isn't airing the show, the local CW affiliate KUCW has picked it up, so it's still being broadcast over-the-air in that market, just not by the normal provider of NBC shows.

This show really should've been on cable. I don't know why studios keep pitching shows to networks, let alone fucking NBC.

Major networks have more money to spend than cable. The production budget is higher along with salaries for cast and crew.

The funny thing is Hannibal is airing overseas as a basic cable series. AXN , who co- produces the show, is airing this on their basic cable networks in Asia, Europe and Latin America. It's airing on Sky Living in the UK, which is also a cable network.

Obviously. But remember, they have to buy quantity rather than quality -- filling up 6 nights of primetime at 3 hours/night. And it shows.

It's already on iTunes and Amazon Instant. It's unlikely to show up on any "free" on-demand services anytimes soon. NBC seems content to have the webisodes serve as the bridge. So no NBC.com, no Hulu, and likely no on-demand cable services.

I liked this episode. I didn't watch any of the webisodes except for the first one (so not knowing if this scene was shown in them prior to seeing episode 5) but the scene with Jacks wife saying its too late for her to have kids had a much greater impact after having seen episode 5. Made me quite sad.

Yeah, that's in the last webisode. I skimmed the webisodes after seeing the full episode, and they pretty much used every scene not tied to the MOTW.

I felt this particular episode wasn't nearly as bad or graphic as the one that followed it.

TV By the Numbers has the shows audience really tapering off. Figures the first network show I've liked in a long time and it probably won't get renewed.
