Hannibal -- "CEUF" -- 4th Episode (Unaired in US/Canada)

http://imageshack.us/a/img839/1695/hanniball.jpg

Synopsis:

A string of family murders takes place and Will (Hugh Dancy) determines they were conducted by each of the families' missing children, who were abducted and brainwashed into killing their old families for their sinister "new family." Against Alana’s (Caroline Dhavernas) recommendation, Hannibal (Mads Mikkelson) checks Abigail (Kacey Rohl) out of the hospital for some frightening psychiatric practices. Molly Shannon and Gina Torres guest star.

Episode 4 of 13

SPECIAL NOTE:

This episode is not airing on NBC in the US, or in Canada, due to sensitivity over the Newtown shooting and Boston bombing. Instead, those markets will skip it and air Episode 5, "Coquilles", instead. International markets will still air this episode, and it may still be made available for online streaming.

To make up for the lack of broadcast, NBC and producer Bryan Fuller have created 6 "webisodes" taken from scenes from the episode, focusing on the overall story arc and not the "killer of the week" storyline that caused it to get axed.

I'll be "finding" the full episode. NBC = Stupid.

I watched the 1st webisode. Fuller introduces it and says they tore apart the episode. The murder storyline has been wiped out. The webisodes for this episode focus more on Hannibal's relationships with Will and Abigail.

 Fuller actually said in the intro "I don't want to give too many spoilers for those who want to seek that episode out."

FYI,

"Ceuf" isn't airing on AXN Asia until next Tuesday (4/30)

It won't air on AXN Latin America until Wednesday May 8

The series doesn't premiere in the UK until May 7th

It appears the foreign markets are 1-2 weeks behind the U.S., which is usually the case for American TV airing overseas. In the case with the UK, the series hasn't even premiered yet.

Re: Hannibal -- "CEUF" -- 4th Episode (Unaired in US/Canada)

Okay, so I watched all 6 webisodes. Roughly 20 minutes of the actual episode was cut out, which is the murder storyline. You get roughly 23 minutes of content.

The content mostly focuses on Hannibal's relationships with Alana, Will and Abigail. It's very psychological based. He also starts some kind of treatment on Abigail. He actually drugs her and she starts hallucinating during one scene with Alana and Hannibal. There is another scene where he's having dinner with Jack and is supposedly serving "Rabbit" But, they have flashes of someone who presumably Hannibal was chasing, butchered and cooked.

As for the guest stars, you don't see Molly Shannon. The last webisode has a very brief scene with Gina Torres, who plays Jack's wife and as most of you know is Fishburne's real life wife. I assume her introduction in the episode was edited out.

It's not the best way to watch this episode, but it is what it is.

Man that was shitty... there is no flow to these... I'm glad I have certain bits of info after watching them, but this was just a fucking stupid move NBC.

Interesting note: The title apparently should be "ŒUF", referring to the French word for egg, œuf, typically spelled without special characters as oeuf. However, Fuller pronounces the title as "ceuf", with a soft c, in the webisode intro.

Thanks for that info. I'll just hold off on tonight's episode until next week. I'm not going to bother with the webisodes.

Thanks for that update! I guess I'll make do with the webisodes, for now.

Damn, haven't heard the name AXN in a while. Solid channel.

Why exactly is this ep not airing in US and will it be included in NA bluray release?

This episode was shot pre-Newtown tragedy and pre-Boston bombing. This episode deals with some children murders.

Bryan Fuller said he wants to be sensitive to the current events that are happening and I assume doesn't want to offend viewers.

I don't know, it sounds all political to me.

If anyone finds a link for the full episode would you be kind enough to post it please :)

Ah, makes sense, but too sensitive?

Very much so.

I may watch the webisodes and then the 5th episode, but will still definitely track down the 4th episode. Fuck NBC for their stupidity here.

Aw, FFS! And the webisodes are blocked in Canada. :mad2:

Oh well. Found them via another 'source.'

Wow. That really felt disjointed. Big thumbs down for this whole mess.

Hopefully the episode that aired tonight will make up for it.

Re: Hannibal -- "CEUF" -- 4th Episode (Unaired in US/Canada)

I tried to watch the webisodes, but I couldn't do it. Out of context, they were stripped of the emotional content that was being conveyed. I'll wait for a proper rip of the full episode to pop up before continuing.

Fuck you NBC. Fuck you so hard.

What's a rip?

And I still don't get the point of blaming NBC if Bryan Fuller made the decision.

Episode 5 took a big hit in the ratings. I think it can be attributed to this mess.

Re: Hannibal -- "CEUF" -- 4th Episode (Unaired in US/Canada)

I tried watching the webisode but it was an incoherent mess. Does anyone know when this one is going to air in Europe or Australia? I'm assuming that's where the source will be whenever the full episode hits the interwebs.

Count me as one of the people who would have started watching the show this week, but didn't due to this decision.

Go back and at least watch the first three episodes. The show shouldn't have to suffer for NBC's stupidity. It's one of the best network dramas in recent memory.
