The only time I can understand that sort of tease is at the end of an ep, but one so early on seems pointless and annoying.
But his story so far mostly revolves around his dreams. Can't really stack those together in one episode. He's the one character where it really does make the most sense to check in on quickly.

So this situation was unprecedented, but the slavers are so arrogant they'd never think about anyone turning against them.

Thanks for the background, that makes more sense.

My only other thought is that 8,000 troops - while the army looked enormous in that closing wide shot - seems pretty small compared to the Starks and the Lannisters. I may be remembering incorrectly, but I thought they had armies numbering in the tens of thousands? I seem to recall in season two discussions of losing 20,000 troops in a single battle. Certainly the quality of Dany's army, and the dragons, balance out the numbers considerably.

8,000 killing machines with no fear, no remore, no care what happens to themselves vs 20k people with families, motives. Yeah. I'm guessing that 8k could kill an 100k army.

Did we know from the episode if Sam's friends got out? (Grenn/Edd)?

Many, many things are discussed a little more (and a lot more) in the books. What the fuck does that have to do with a thread in the TV Talk forum?

How many of those 20k troops would let someone cut their nipple off, not scream and still follow orders?

They missed one big opportunity; but in the book, Dani was topless during her stay in Astopor. Well, one breast exposed, the other covered.

Or was that Qarth?

That scene still makes me giggle.

It helps to explain the rationale behind the Unsullied deal. Sometimes you can't fit all of your source material into an episode, and it's nice to know details that add weight to a story. As long as it's all in retrospect of course...

That was Qarth and yeah, we were all disappointed with that change.

I was talking with a friend last week and told him I suspected she would give up the dragon to get the army, then it would turn into a double cross. Glad to see I was right.

Because no one on the show is going to go back and explain why the Unsullied turned on their masters any further. I think it was there in the show ("these solider follow their masters orders without hesitation" is probably enough) but there is a little more clarity to be found in the books if a TV-only fan is confused.

So that's what the fuck it has to do with a thread in the TV Talk forum.

I just went "Oh shit" when the fire erupted behind her. Goddamn, Dany has always been my favorite.

Dame Diana's nose looks something like what Tyrion's looked like after Blackwater (in the book).

Sounded awesome on surround sound too, as you could hear the "whooshing" moving towards the screen before you saw them.

Seems like this season is getting more "money shots" than the previous two. Gives me hope for next season's climax.

Haven't posted here in a while...maybe a little on Breaking Bad. I just got to watch this on the DVR and had to drop in to say:

Holy Fucking Shitballs!

I saw that coming about a mile away, but it was still incredibly epic. It was right up there with "Exodus" from Battlestar Galactica and "Severed Dreams" from Babylon 5 for amazing moments in television.

The bulk of the Westerosi armies are peasants and other non-soldier types who are conscripted by their great lords. The Unsullied are an elite force. It's like pitting 8,000 Green Rangers against 20,000 random dudes. My money's on the Green Rangers.
