This is true. I dated a guy with Asbergers for about a year, and he was a lot more motivated to do the little social things that mattered to me, even if he didn't agree that they mattered. I think Sheldon is just wayyyyy out on the spectrum. It's bizarre to me how wide that spectrum is. I'm a speech therapist and some of the kids on my caseload have ASD. The kid I see who is nonverbal has the same diagnosis as the quirky kid who speaks well but has poor social skills.

Yeah, but quite apart from probably leaving her horny as hell all the time, Sheldon doesn't even seem to make the effort to take an interest in much of her life, and generally seeming to look down on her abilities. He doesn't even seem to make an effort to try to get her things or help her with her problems. I wouldn't be the world's greatest boyfriend, lord knows, but at least I'd pick up on "go see this movie because she wants to" or "she's had this successful event in her life, praise her for it and work with her in celebrating it. Any relationship is going to require some give and take. Amy just seems to put with an endless rash of his shit. Idiosyncrasies are one thing, but he's had more than his share of chances to grow, and his unwillingness to suggests it's a more deep-seated problem.

Yes, I know, I established that in my post, at least partially. But hey, overanalyzing the hell out of it is part of the fun. That, or my life is just empty. But I'd prefer to think the former, so I can sleep at night

If this weren't a sitcom, Raj and Amy would be hitting it behind Sheldon's back by now.

I'm baffled how this thread is on a 3rd page.
