Which is why I always wondered why Rick had to go back into Atlanta to get one crummy duffel bag full of guns.

Well the Governor is knocking on their door and he knew an exact location where he could get guns. They could have spent time roaming neighborhoods, stores, etc. but that would take time they don't have.

Something that bugs me and my wife (especially my wife) is why don't they get rid of these walkers roaming around outside the fence? There are always walkers out there so why not get them next to the fence and jam them in the head with a weapon? They have done it from time to time but they are always risking things going in and out of the fence without first killing these nearby walkers.
Doesn't make much sense.
I still remember when they got to the Prison they went inside the last fence and turned a corner and seen all these walkers. Now, these walkers didn't see them but instead of slinking back, regrouping and coming up with a plan to lead them back to the fence to kill them they simply run in and kill them in a melee.
Letting them come to the fence would have been safer and they would have had to use less ammo. But it's a TV show and they wanted some action. Forget about believability!
There are PLENTY of things that do not make sense in this show. All you got to do is pay attention.
Again, as I said before, it's a show about zombies so it's not like I really expect things to make sense on every level but these people are just too stupid!

I realize many people have declared "Clear" to be one of the best episodes in quite some time ... but is it really worth $300.00 to watch it on Amazon? (See the front page of DVDTalk)

You're right; I do remember those, too. Initially, I was really interested in the background of folks like Andrea and Amy, and even Dale (who I really liked, while I know others really didn't). We got some of their history just from interaction at the camp (Carol and her husband), but nothing of who they were before. Like I said, none of that really matters now. I don't think it's even touched on in the comics much (I want to say Michonne was a lawyer, right?), but I guess lots of us were spoiled by some of that in LOST.

The problem is, with Lost the flashbacks were to show that the people on the island were all connected and special. Other the first moments of the outbreak, the day to day lives of these people probably wasn't very exciting. Seeing Andrea working some office job or Herchel treating a horse would be boring and wouldn't add anything to the show.
3 years haven't passed. Not sure if you misheard the quote or if it was said out of context, but they've established numerous times it's been about a year - referring to Andrea/Michonne surviving the winter, Rick referring to Morgan saving him "last year", etc.

It was the host who said it... something in reference to what had happened and the growth of the characters... he said something like, "it's been 3 years, man." He was probably referring to 3 seasons.
