This doesn't premiere on Fox until 9/25, but the pilot is already available on Hulu. I thought fans of The Office and Mindy Kaling might want to check this out early.

I laughed outloud a few times, but mostly it felt..off. I think it's because of the hospital setting, which just doesn't work with the comic material where the best jokes largely focused on Hollywood. I might give it a few more episodes

I have to agree with you. I wanted to like it a smidge more than I actually did. I heard that with episodes 2-4 they plan on tweaking the formula/minor characters a little bit. Maybe it just needs some fine-tuning, "new girl" definitely spent the first 6 or so episodes trying to find it's footing.

This being a Fox series, I hope they give it time to find footing.

I'll wait until it actually premieres before I sample it, but it's on a good night for them with New Girl and Raising Hope in the lineup.

Let me put it this way, if it gets Breaking In type numbers, it's dead. If it gets numbers close to New Girl or even Raising Hope, it will get a full season.

There was an event at a movie theater where they were showing the upcoming Tuesday Night Fox lineup last weekend. I was considering going since it would have been interesting to see TV with a big audience, but didn't get around to it. Now to check out part of this one...

It blows.

Mostly because it's not funny but also because Mindy Kaling is not a lead also the title is bad.

About five minutes in Kaling was going on about something and a little girl stopped her by saying,
"this is boring."

Yep.


Is on demand too if you don't have Hulu.

I didn't laugh once. Will not be watching more.

Mindy Kaling is not funny.

Wow. Thought this would be hilarious as I love her on The Office, but I just don't like this character. It had a few funny moments, but she's in her 30s, is a doctor, and hates her life, spends her nights partying and having one night stands. Completely no self confidence either. I appreciate character flaws, but this is just not a character you want to root for.

I watched this, Ben and Kate and The New Normal. Mindy was, by far, the worst. The New Normal sounded bad on paper, but I actually enjoyed it.

But I can see this getting a full season. Fox has a poor track record will sitcoms and it makes a good pairing with New girl and Raising Hope (which is likely guaranteed a 4th Season regardless of ratings simply for syndication reasons).

Speaking of Breaking In, did the final 6 or so episodes every air anywhere?

I didn't hate it, I like Mindy Kaling so we'll see if it grows at all.

FYI, BJ Novak is apparently a credited Producer on this show.

Didn't care for this pilot, however unlike most I seem to think it has potential.

Saw it on Hulu weeks ago. I thought it was... okay. I'll watch a few more.

I think this is the only new comedy I plan on checking out.

This show just seems unnecessary.

How is Mindy Kaling wanting to get away from The Office and do her own thing unnecessary? She's a comedy writer/producer along with being an actress and this is a good opportunity for her to branch off away from being a supporting character and have more creative control.

Was this exactly the same as the Hulu pilot? Sometimes they tweak a few things.

I actually liked it. Am surprised.

It seems clever and funny. I liked it. I guess it will be Mindy falling in love and getting her heart broken by a cute white guy every week. Oh well...


That Dr. Costalano guy is pretty funny.

It was better than I expected.

I'll tune in for a few more episodes.

I liked it quite a bit. Kaling is charming but not an idiot. And since I think most romantic comedies are ridiculous and place unrealistic expectations on relationships, it was nice to see that addressed in a fun way.
