Re: Is it the norm to have more than one TV in the living room?

My wife and I have never had a TV in the living room of any house or apartment we've ever had. I realize that's not the norm, but we're both pretty adamant that, when we have people over, unless they are at our place specifically to watch TV, we would socialize with them in a room without a television.

Do you have another communal room?

My mom (who still lives in the same house I grew up in) doesn't have a TV in the living room. Never have. But then it's a room that was only used for the Christmas tree and maybe a few occasions when my parents had guests over.

We had a "family room" where we had the TV. One of those big cabinet honkers no less.

Yes. We have a four bedroom house and no kids. You do the math.

Our living room is where we sit and read, or where we sit and chat, with or without company.

Ah so clearly when you say you're socializing with friends w/o a TV in the room, you must be swingers.

A four bedroom house with no kids seems stupider than having multiple TVs in one room.

I disagree. If you are married and eventually have kids you can grow into that house instead of having to move if you live in a townhouse or condo.

Plus for investment purposes, a 4 bedroom/ 2 1/2 bathroom house is the most common house on the market (and the house that is desired by most married people), so it is a good investment in the long run and the most easy to sell in any market. I have friends who have ranchers, cape cods, or McMansion's that are tougher to sell cause you have to find the right family to buy that particular house.

I'm not positive, but was pretty sure wendersfan doesn't have any kids.

That said...we were four guys in a college apartment. Needless to say, none of us do this now as married 30-somethings living in the suburbs.
Ahh. Good times. I miss the days of playing video games on one TV while someone was watching a movie on the TV right next to it.

I prefer the term "child free."
