is S2 of Homeland better than S1?
I've got 3 episodes left of Homeland S1 to watch, and while I do like it, I don't love it, nor do I find it this amazing show that many claim it to be. I keep hearing about all of these major plot twists and things that happen EVERY episode, and to be honest, there hasn't been much in that in S1, so I'm a little disappointed with it... not that it's a bad show, but my expectations were set very high.

I agree that the direction for S2 was unknown and the options were limited. This is just a testament to how good S2 turned out to be, IMO. While I agree it's not quite as strong as S1, it is better than I expected it to be.
No sophomore slump for Homeland.

I think some shows are best digested a week at a time as they originally air. Homeland if very much one of those shows. I don't think for example, last Sunday's episode would have resonated as much with me if I was simply able to pop in the next DVD.

Tough to say without seeing how season 2 ends.
With that said, regardless of which one ends up being better, both seasons were awesome.

Sorry TallGuyMe, Season 2 is just more of the same (excellent acting, writing and directing).

Season 2 is more riveting in a sense that there is more action and the viewer is getting all the payoffs from Season 1. I still think Season 1 was better because it had a bit more depth to it as to character development, whereas they have gotten away from that this year in favor of more of 'who is this character going to doublecross this week' storylines.

Season one was phenomenal, season two has been pretty good, but there have been a lot of issues with the writing.

Both seasons are incredibly awesome and some of the best, most taut tv there is. with that, i give slight edge to S1, but not by much. i love S2 so very much as well.

That is kind of how I feel and why I have not watched S2 yet. I have it on the DVR but no real interest in watching it. Maybe after football is over.

If S1 did nothing special for you, there's no reason to think S2 is going to do something special for you. We have different "specials". It happens.
For those worried that S2 loses its mojo, it hasn't yet at all. Obviously YMMV. But don't skip 2 because 1 was "so perfect".

Oh please, not even close? Good grief.
S2 is just as exceptional as the first. It's the best show on television. Period.

Season 2 isn't as good as Season 1, but very few seasons of very few shows are. At least there's no sub-plot about Ziggy the dock worker and his pet duck.
Season 2's biggest problem are gigantic plot holes (season 1 had them, but not to this extent). Season 2's greatest strength is keeping the viewer guessing -- a lot more "holy shit" moments this time around.

S1. This season has been inconsistent. The over-acting and sometimes bad acting especially that last episode ,plotholes have been there far more than S1. I still like watching the show but if it doesn't get better I won't be.

Like dragon said, S1 was less action, but to me more riveting and just better overall. Any show like this is going to require some suspension of disbelief, but S2 requires way more, and is distracting sometimes.

I think the first half of season 1 was better, but season 2 is better as a whole so far. The only real (minor) complaint I have about this season is that a lot of the things that happen are even more far-fetched than the unbelievable elements of the first season.
