Sad news. I knew he was sick when he worked on the 1st season of the new Dallas. It was only a matter of time. The new season of Dallas starts in January. I wonder if they got any episodes with him in the can or if he was too ill to work. Anyways, his passing is definitely going to hurt the show.

Very sad news.
I wonder what they will do on the TV show now. That is very much continuing isn't it? Have they already filmed for the second season?

Deadline.com says Hagman filmed some episodes of season 2. Guess this changes season 2 a lot.

The man had Jeannie at home, and still went to work...and as an astronaut no less. Godspeed Major Nelson.

Hagman was awesome. I grew up watching Dallas with my grandmother and J.R. was a first class villain. I enjoyed the hell out of his performance on the new show. He will definitely be missed.

It's sad he passed. I was so excited watching him in the revival of Dallas. He will forever be the star of that show.

The cast, crew, studio and network behind the reboot of the show were left saddened on Friday by the death of television icon Larry Hagman.
“Larry Hagman was a giant, a larger-than-life personality whose iconic performance as J.R. Ewing will endure as one of the most indelible in entertainment history,” Warner Bros., the studio behind the show, said in a joint statement with “Dallas” executive producers Cynthia Cidre and Michael M. Robin, and the drama’s cast and crew.
“He truly loved portraying this globally recognized character, and he leaves a legacy of entertainment, generosity and grace. Everyone at Warner Bros. and in the ‘Dallas’ family is deeply saddened by Larry’s passing, and our thoughts are with his family and dear friends during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
TNT, the network behind the recently rebooted show, which has been in production on Season 2, also released a statement.
“All of us at TNT are deeply saddened at the news of Larry Hagman’s passing. He was a wonderful human being and an extremely gifted actor,” TNT’s statement read. “We will be forever thankful that a whole new generation of people got to know and appreciate Larry through his performance as J.R.

R.I.P.
I've never watched Dallas - except for the opening song every week after watching Dukes of Hazzard and Incredible Hulk.
I own all five seasons of I Dream of Jeannie on DVD - I think it's an awesome show.

Loved watching Dallas as a kid with my parents. J.R. Is one of my favorite tv characters of all time and as already stated, he was Dallas. RIP

I watched the new Dallas, and he was so incredibly good on it (and really the only thing good on it.) But he did not look particularly well, and while I'm not completely shocked, it really saddens me anyway. But I am happy he got to leave us with one last shot as one of the great bad guys ever.

I'll always remember him best in Oliver Stone's Nixon as the shady Texas businessman who went a few rounds with Dick Nixon. ("Presidents don't threaten. They don't have to. Good day, gentlemen")

I believe the Today show said he had shot (at least some) episodes since the season premieres in January.
Dallas was a very, very good show - even watchable during the few final years (give or take one season). A big part of that was because of Larry Hagman as J.R.
I urge anyone that wants to watch it and is debating the large amount of time to do so - go for it. The first 10/11 or so seasons are just excellent beyond words and the final few are average to very good.
