Re: Dexter -- "Run" -- 10/21/12

I found the way Deb was acting towards Dexter in the first few episodes annoying, but it's becoming better now. Quite a strong season after last year's disaster of a season.

Minotaur man was infinitely more interesting than Travis. Happy he was killed though.

Is it just me or is that outside alleway a new "location" this season? I don't think we've seen them use it until the season premiere.

I hoped they had decided to completely ignore that angle. I thought it was the single worst development from last season. Aside from that this season does feel like a return to form.

At the end of the episode when she's processing her feelings about Spelzer being killed by Dexter, we feel what she's feeling. On the one hand he was murdered, and yet, in spite of justice being served without due process, she's happy it happened. It was a damn convincing argument in favor of Dexter's methods.
I feel the exact opposite. The viewer has already accepted what Dexter does, so this feels very redundant. The mob storyline is far more interesting even if it's a bit contrived.

I think it is but as far as I remember we haven't really seen the outside of Miami Metro that much other than the roof (season three where he and Miguel had their stand off) and the parking garage (season three where he got "taken" by the Miami Metro staff for his bachelor party).

It doesn't mean he's not hardcore. Dexter is about control. He wanted to take the life, not let the fire do it.

Great stuff. LOVING this season so far.

I noticed that too. They really seem to be using it a lot.

Now that Dexter's secret is out, it symbolizes the walls closing in on them both.

Re: Dexter -- "Run" -- 10/21/12

Count me in as another who enjoyed this episode. I loved that Deb continually calls out Dexter for his reasoning for killing people. And yeah, Dexter (the character) seems a lot more interesting this year since his secret has been found out.

No idea where the Dexter/Hannah thing is going right now. I'm glad they are getting rid of Harrison for the short term. He wasn't that important to the show.

And yeah I thought that Victor/Issac were lovers after the scene where Issac looks at the picture. Next week's ep should be interesting as they have Laguerta/blood slide BHB plotline as emphasis.

Too bad Jamie went with him. I'd much rather she stuck around and went undercover at the strip club or something.

Well yeah, technically speaking most of us got there pretty early on in the show. But it's still interesting to watch Deb struggle with it because you see the arguments being presented all over again for/against what Dexter does. It's easy enough to accept it being a viewer but most of us probably never really gave it much thought or reasoning as to why we support him. Dexter is simply presented to us as the "hero" and we just accept it. And yet, if this were in real life (obviously it'd be a stretch), most of us would probably have as hard a time as Deb.

Anyways, I love this show - the writing rocks! As far as I'm concerned, this season has already completely made up for last season which I still say is better than 95% of the crap out there.

The animated gif is more hilarious, but here's the clip.

I cringed when the mobster guy looks at the picture and states "I will avenge your death".
Cheesy line that you'd hear in a comic book movie.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think the Deb falling for Dexter thing was the best thing about last season and I'm kinda enjoying the tension it's creating in her. Granted, the therapist encouraging her to act on it was lunacy. But I like that the new tension between them is a little reminiscent of the old X Files sexual tension. Twisted, sure, but it's a twisted show and it fits.

Another really solid episode. I don't think I've been this excited for each new episode since the 4th season.

You're not alone, I agree with you. I love that they didn't drop this.
